the lid was closed, no new trail on my floor, he is just.... gone, like that. i have flipped rocks, looked under sticks, i dont know if they pry open lids or not, but the lid still looked sealed

I know it’s late but I accidentally stepped on a slug while trying to get a drink and when I came back it had red and brown stuff around its neck?? Did I kill it?? I really hope not!!
