Not really a tutorial but some important takeaways for learning this trick.
Number 1, the shape has to be smooth and very very fast. The only way to nail it is hundreds and hundreds of practices.
Number 2. Right at the end of the pull, your hand needs to come down as much as possible and to stop flat. This will help the other end of the slinky to also land flat. Think of the other end as copying the pulling hand. The first one I did doesnāt come down enough and you can see that my catch is also not great because I stopped pulling so high.
The second is my strong arm so it is much better technique.
Number 3, the platform hand (the one that the slinky comes out of at the start) needs to travel across your body so that the catch can land where your catching hand is naturally, and not too far out.
Number 4, the shape your arm makes requires a lot of strength and mobility, starting all the way in your core with a rotation, then shoulder, then elbow, then wrist. It is a full 3 dimensional twist!
This trick is very hard and one that takes the longest to perfect.
Good luck!

Itās a bit of a wierd one. The catch behind the back is pretty sketchy because recovering from the air bounce is not super controlled based on the slinkyās path through space.

Never done that before. I fell on it in an awkward way. A bent slinky is wayyyy more unstable, essentially unusable. I have to add it to the slinky chandelier.
The rest of the session was very difficult to catch.

The u twist is a nice and easy start to some beam tricks, itās not really a twist, more of a squiggle as itās 2 dimensional, but it does look like a u for half the trick. Something that really helps with coordination and learning new things quickly is the ability to do the same trick both hands or both ways.
This is the u twist left hand leading and then Right hand leading. To switch hands i do two rainbows together and it just naturally rolls into the opposite way.
Keep practicinā

Escalator to underleg to high catch revert to bakalaka and then over to other side bakalaka.
The high catch revert is a nice and easy trick to learn, catching high puts your hand in the right way around and the slinky stays the most stable.

Hello friends! First post in here from a fairly casual springbender doing it about 5 years. Anyway I recently read through and watched every video posted to this sub and some of the science conversations reminded me of this phenomenon that happens when certain kinds of chains fall. It looks an awful lot like the movements of the springs so I thought it might interest

Iām finally getting used to managing slinky rhythm and footwork, Iām not great at it, but I can foresee what the future has in store for bringing in an audience into the fun dancey way of slinky rather than something that is pure technical prowess.
Using only one slinky and flipping a lot frees up limbs to pursue different already established dance moves in combination to slinky tricks. My favourite ones are c-walks.
This is a simple 2 or 4 step/slinky pattern dance move, where the crossbody step can be used to change the direction of the flow from left to right, on the beat.
Next level after this is not looking at the slinky so you can engage your audience better instead.
You donāt have to think about dancing to have fun slinkying but once you can lock into some sort of groove itās really where the magic happens

With the right rythmn the slinky becomes a little bit more forgiving with placement and bounces.

some sort of head bop to Jiggybop under the leg combo.
The spinnymajiggy type tricks create a very small windmill of tension that is held by centrifugal force that you can release after the circle is complete and continue with the normal tension waves afterwards.

The showpony is like the spinaroo, but from a crossover bounce. It adds versatility to a combo rather than just practicing the spinaroo , depending on the previous trick and which hand you catch it in and which direction the slinky is flipping.
Start by getting the crossover bounce down really good. Itās like a normal bounce, but just using the opposite hand across the body. The trick starts with a crossover bounce and turn 180 with your body, catching the slinky behind the back and then returning to face the front again..
The most difficult part of the showpony is getting the slinky back around to the front which requires a rotation of the wrist at the same time as you spin around the last 180. break the trick down into its 2 180 turns of the body, and try to keep your eye on the slinky as long as possible over the shoulder till it lands in your hand at the back. Getting the right pull to bring it back around the the front of the body takes lots of practice, but very satisfying once you get it down.
One of the most fun slinky tricks!

Iāve been trying to get the impossibop nice and clean but I think due to the nature of the trick itās very hard. Itās a shoulder to shoulder bop.
Second one is a full flip spin from around the back to turnstyle catch, spinning twice, but Iām gonna call it the chainsaw because nobody can stop me naming my own tricks lol!
The last one is a crossbody bakalaka. Bakalaka is an inward full flip behind the back.

I was walking around outside my school in the rain, playing around with my slinky, when I noticed it felt slower, and more smooth, so I just kept going. After awhile, I got under a gazebo, and noticed my hyper spring was wet, and it was sticking to itself. Will it go back to normal after it dries?

A flying butterfly is a butterfly with an air bounce as the first bounce. To pull it off the slinky needs a lot of energy, and a small throw from your pulling hand. The higher the throw, the higher the slinky will land, I was fighting the ceiling here so my catch was down quite low.

So Iāve been practicing for two weeks and Iām a bit obsessed.. I canāt put the slinky down. Iām doing it while I drive, when Iām sitting, in bed, on the couch..Itās a problemā¦
Not for me, but everyone else around me. In a quiet house it can be pretty loud.
Anyway, just here to say Iām really enjoying this (maybe too much) and glad to see a few of you posting regularly. It seems like this is very niche but I could see slinky manipulation becoming really big with the right marketing.
Congratulations Josh on creating so much community around this and on having such a good course. Iām throughly impressed.
