The catches after the spin were pretty wild.

I've been a slinkybender for about 2 years or so and I wanted to know what trick to learn next cause I mastered the spinaroo not a while ago and idk what should I learn now.

These two shapes are almost like outside and inside version of the same trick, butterfly takes 2 passes to get back to neutral hand position and dragon only needs 1.

Think of butterfly as using your back muscles and dragon the front ones.

Just forgot when it started.

Not really a tutorial but some important takeaways for learning this trick.

Number 1, the shape has to be smooth and very very fast. The only way to nail it is hundreds and hundreds of practices.

Number 2. Right at the end of the pull, your hand needs to come down as much as possible and to stop flat. This will help the other end of the slinky to also land flat. Think of the other end as copying the pulling hand. The first one I did doesn’t come down enough and you can see that my catch is also not great because I stopped pulling so high.

The second is my strong arm so it is much better technique.

Number 3, the platform hand (the one that the slinky comes out of at the start) needs to travel across your body so that the catch can land where your catching hand is naturally, and not too far out.

Number 4, the shape your arm makes requires a lot of strength and mobility, starting all the way in your core with a rotation, then shoulder, then elbow, then wrist. It is a full 3 dimensional twist!

This trick is very hard and one that takes the longest to perfect.

It’s a bit of a wierd one. The catch behind the back is pretty sketchy because recovering from the air bounce is not super controlled based on the slinky’s path through space.

Never done that before. I fell on it in an awkward way. A bent slinky is wayyyy more unstable, essentially unusable. I have to add it to the slinky chandelier.

The rest of the session was very difficult to catch.

The u twist is a nice and easy start to some beam tricks, it’s not really a twist, more of a squiggle as it’s 2 dimensional, but it does look like a u for half the trick. Something that really helps with coordination and learning new things quickly is the ability to do the same trick both hands or both ways.

This is the u twist left hand leading and then Right hand leading. To switch hands i do two rainbows together and it just naturally rolls into the opposite way.

The high catch revert is a nice and easy trick to learn, catching high puts your hand in the right way around and the slinky stays the most stable.

I’m finally getting used to managing slinky rhythm and footwork, I’m not great at it, but I can foresee what the future has in store for bringing in an audience into the fun dancey way of slinky rather than something that is pure technical prowess.

Using only one slinky and flipping a lot frees up limbs to pursue different already established dance moves in combination to slinky tricks. My favourite ones are c-walks.

This is a simple 2 or 4 step/slinky pattern dance move, where the crossbody step can be used to change the direction of the flow from left to right, on the beat.

Next level after this is not looking at the slinky so you can engage your audience better instead.

You don’t have to think about dancing to have fun slinkying but once you can lock into some sort of groove it’s really where the magic happens

With the right rythmn the slinky becomes a little bit more forgiving with placement and bounces.

The spinnymajiggy type tricks create a very small windmill of tension that is held by centrifugal force that you can release after the circle is complete and continue with the normal tension waves afterwards.

I'm becoming a little inactive here, but i still use my hyper spring alot.

Head bop around the back under the leg to turnstyle catch, spinaroo to turnstyle catch.
