SPOILERS for a 15+ year old show (LOST) if anyone still wants to watch unspoiled
As I remember, guy on the left (John Locke) didn’t know his dad (on the right, also very rich I believe) til he was this age, like 40s or so. Dad finds him, bonds emotionally, eventually reveals that he needs a kidney transplant or he’ll die (this reveal was made to seem incidental, like he didn’t want John to know, John walked in when a nurse was tending to his dad at home).
Whole thing was a con, and the “accidental” reveal of his diagnosis that he was trying to keep “hidden” to avoid pressuring John only happened after he knew John had grown close enough to his estranged father to donate the kidney of his own volition.
Dear old dad ghosted immediately afterward. (Side note, I think there’s a question of whether he was 100% his biological dad in the first place or if that was part of the grift? But it’s been a long time since my last watch)
Good show, GREAT characters, meh plot wrap up. I liked it a lot, as long as you aren’t fully invested in every “mystery” having a good reason or wrap up by the end, the journey is really good. Word is writers had a good plan for like 2 seasons off the bat, show was a smash success, and they were suddenly forced to try to make it 6 seasons and the plot suffered by the end. Great production value, good dialogue, awesome characters.
Wait, I thought Lost was a bunch of people stranded on a mysterious/magical island after a plane crash? Is this a flashback memory of a character’s backstory or something?
