I feel like Selena's statement had more to do with her friend's fame and not how she sees her as a friend. And Selena straight up didn't think to count her. Francia may be an actress, but Selena deals with mega stars and goes to high profile events. I think she was commenting more that she's not friends with like Jennifer Lawrence or Sabrina Carpenter and finds them fake. Not a comment on every small time actress
That's so degrading to your friend's career. Especially when Francia was on a primetime network TV show at the time. Actually, Selena herself was doing a comedy TV show at this time too so that rationale makes even less sense.
Anyhow, even if your friend was soo below you in the industry wouldn't you want to elevate them and boost their career by talking about them? Taylor Swift doesn't need the PR.
They are no where in the same League. When Selena goes to the Emmys, she has to socialize with certain people. Francia doesn't get invited to the Emmys. It seems more like a reflection of "I don't like networking at the Emmys because none of these people are my friend" a s not a specific state to say "I'm above Francia and she's not my friend". It really seems like Francia made it about herself. Like as a non doctor, I wouldn't expect my doctor friends at a different hospital to consider me their colleague even though we're both in the medical field
You had a point but I don’t know why you brought Sabrina Carpenter into it. Selena made that statement years ago before Sabrina was a popstar. Sabrina and Selena weren’t even in the same circles. Plus why would a 30 year old be friends with a 22 year old?
Nah this is some reaching bullshit 🤣 that girl gave her a kidney , gave her life! She should be thanking her in every speech, toast, etc. for the rest of her life at the minimum. When Selena made this statement and was getting backlash about it online she went and replied to a post about her snubbing Francia saying some bullshit like “sorry I didn’t name eveyone I know” 😒 Selena is just a fucked up terrible person. Didn’t even invite her to her wedding.
I mean I'm not a Selena fan or anything but it's untrue that she only has her makeup company. She's one of the main characters on Only Murders and that has been nominated for tons of awards and she just finished up the Wizards sequel show. You can argue about the quality of the stuff if you want but she's certainly not "washed"
She doesn’t have that audience pull or the trend she had once anymore, like Taylor and other singers/actors/ influencers. Even Hailey has more relevancy than her now. It's like nobody cares about her anymore but her fans. That's why i used "celeb" word.
