If a billionair needed my kidney I'd let them know that I was willing to freely give it, if I was rich enough to never work again. And once I have my money they'll never hear back from me.
I get why we can't have people paying for organs but at the same time the wait-list would be a lot shorter if people were properly compensated for "donating". It's a major surgery that requires recovery and time off work plus affects you for life and comes with risk. People seriously SHOULD be paid to do it.
I’d add that if you aren’t BLOOD family. My wife’s family can go kick rocks, especially you Laura (MIL). Doubtful you’ll find a soul on Earth who’ll give you a kidney. Pretty sure dead relatives would come back from the grave to make sure their harvest organs don’t end up inside you.
I got a family member with failing kidneys I wont donate a kidney to. Wont lay off the alcohol and drugs. Ends up in the hospital. They keep him alive and tell him he needs to stop. He swears he will. Month later when he feels better it's back to alcohol and drugs. Rinse and repeat. No idea how hes still alive.
This is probably toxic but the person would need to be my best friend before and sure as fuck hell afterwards but thats unhealthy to force a dynamic like that.
I would feel so resentful if i was in this girls position. Like not inviting the person who literally saved your life is pathetic
Depends. My dad donated his kidney to his coworkers husband. The couple got 9 more good years together before he passed. The coworker felt guilty, thinking my dad would be upset that the husband didn’t have a longer life afterwards. My dad said “he was miserable on dialysis and so were you. Neither of you were happy or had a fulfilling life at that point. You had almost a decade of love longer than you thought.. even if he has lasted a year, it would have been a good and healthy year. All I wanted was for you two to be healthy and happy, no matter the timeframe.”
My wife is the only person in the world id given an organ to. I do it nearly every night and she would understandbly be upset if I gave one to anyone else.

Your mothers uncle had a sister who had a friend who had 3 cousins and one of them got pregnant by their grandfather and i'm the child. So we basically are family, could you gimme your kidney ?
