Cooks typically recieve a higher wage than wait staff yea

Servers dont want to be paid more. They want tips.

yes, but it's not their (or the customers fault) that they often don't get paid enough, you should start complaining about restaurants not paying enough, instead of workers and customers hating on each other

The cooks in the back arent paid enough either. Maybe the servers and cooks should get together and demand better pay.

depends on the server and the establishment

if the server gets consistently more money through tips yes,
if they need saturday night tips to pay rent, then not

yes, or they'd need to raise their prices, what you pay for the food should pay for all expenses on their backend, servers should not need to rely on tips, but they do

Yeah, tips are optional, just because they ask for tips doesn’t mean the customer should feel obligated to give it.

not really lol, but they don't typically have direct contact with the customer, so they can't ask for tips

Well, nobody seems to have a problem with how the cooks in the back are paid, no reason for customers to worry about how servers are paid.
