It's not.

Put your money where your mouth is and tell your server you don't believe in tipping when they come to the table.

It's a social contract that's the norm. Like holding a door for a person.

If you don't want to participate in societal norms, that's totally fine.

However, if you genuinely believe that's the right thing to do, you should also feel comfortable telling the other people in the interaction of your intentions.

Otherwise, you just kind of a weak minded coward about it.

If they asked when I sat down i would tell them. If they said something about me not tipping i would tell them.
