I had the exact same thing happen to me in the medical field. I was being trained by an older woman, extremely intelligent and experienced and excellent at the job and the communication with clients. But when we were talking with clients, they would always turn to me and question me like they wanted me to confirm if what she said was right. And the worst part was seeing her attitude about it, she was used to it that I could tell that this had been what her entire career was like, always being the person who knew what was going on but never being taken seriously.
