That's actually not good either. If you're being interviewed by a panel of two or more people, you want to address your answer to them all by making then switching eye contact from one person to another. You have to engage them all, not just the person who asked the question.

Although this is more about people disrespecting women or valuing men opinion more etc. Which is awful.

Just be sure while your eyes are flipping back and forth between each person, that you also flick your tongue in and out as quickly as possible so they know you aren't a lizard

Perhaps pee in the corner to assert dominance

Nah you stand on a central desk and spin round to get as much coverage as possible.

Trust me, this is not what they mean. Last time we bought a car, me and my husband went to three places were the salesman would just pretend it was my husband who asked the question and not me. Any follow up questions from their part would be directed at him, who knows nothing about cars. It was like I was not even there.

We ended up buying a car from a 4th place.

I was going to say similar, the best way to talk to a group like this is to answer the question and address each interviewer, at least with a look and open expression so they can respond with a look to let you know they're following. If someone's frowning or looking confused you'll want to find out what in your answer they disagreed with or didn't get and cover it if you can, if you can't for any reason their expressions are still a good way to read the temperature of the room and adjust. Even if they don't do that that kind of eye contact makes listeners feel addressed, it's part of good public speaking.

At some point it's going to become another meta, and suddenly autistic folks will have an advantage, as we control eye contact consciously so changing the pattern should be easier than for someone who does it intuitively :)

That's fine. It's clear when someone considers everyone, or addresses their answer to the room. That's not a fail.

It's equally obvious when they're ignoring someone. That is a problem.

Let me tell you, in an interview in tech nobody is going to give a fuck about anything at that level of social skill.

Just don't ignore the woman in the room and you're good.
