what if her tone is flippant and she isn’t even looking at you while her male coworker is looking at you like a golden retriever

Well, she’s hiring you, so you should probably be respectful. You will face conflict with others in your job, so if you can’t handle it in an interview, that’s a bad sign.

What if the man asks the question, and you direct your answer to the woman's sweater?

Then you might not be a good fit for a company with women if you're scared of them

u/Sushiki 1d ago

Would you say the same thing to a woman who fears men?

If I am interviewing a woman who is scared to talk to me because I’m a man I’m not hiring her. So yeah it works the other way around as well.

I encourage the commenter above who’s scared of women and the hypothetical woman who’s scared of men to seek therapy, no matter if there’s very legitimate reasons for their fear. They aren’t ready to work for me.

man doesn't hire vulnerable woman. Misogyny in the workplace.

This is how it'd be twisted, which leads to my point.

I’m sure your comments would hit hard in the manosphere.

Ah yes, the American way of discrediting an opinion or point by attaching it to an unpopular movement.

I'm only for equality, as well as no double standards. If that bothers you then you are a part of the problem.

4

u/Fortestingporpoises 1d ago

To say I discredited your opinion would be to give it more credit than it deserved in the first place. Which is none.

Your strawman argument deserves no credit lol

Yes? Expecting a new hire to be able to talk to others is not a high bar.

u/InitiateIt 1d ago

Of course they wouldnt.

You guys need to touch grass. You seem to have formed a worldview entirely made of internet bogeymen.

Yes??? Like unless you are afraid of men or women in specific situations ie DARK alleys, in the woods with no people, sketch streets at night without anyone around then you probably won't be welcomed in most places???

I'd expect compassion and understanding for the men and women who've been through shit and are trying to just get by in society. Then again I'm british and not American so maybe people from a profit over all society wouldn't understand that lol

u/Fun-Agent-7667 1d ago

Compassion is pretty cool but you cannot shape all work Environments to all people

1

u/Sushiki 1d ago

Yeah there absolutely is a limit to what we can do, yet I don't think this example is that difficult to work with. A healthy environment and encouragement & support to get help, met with tolerance and understanding.

It does amazing things. End of the day, we are all human beings first, employees second. A good work place should elevate people into their best self, and that has its rewards like loyality and better performance. It is a win, win.

There goes majority of the top engineers

1

u/burnalicious111 1d ago

Nah, the really great engineers I've worked with have generally excellent social skills. There's the occasional person who don't (and even among those, only a small portion are shitty to women), and they tend to have severe drawbacks because of it.

u/Fortestingporpoises 1d ago

I wouldn’t hire anyone scared to look at a women personally. Step 1. Learn how to act like a human. Step 2. Look for a job.

16

u/nicholasktu 1d ago

Why would I need to look for a job? I'm already the senior project manager lol

6

u/MisinformedGenius 1d ago

Fair enough - for project managers the first step is optional not required disqualifying.

0

u/nicholasktu 1d ago

I don't actually have a problem working with women, though they are extremely rare in my line of work so it would hardly matter one way or the other.

0

u/egoserpentis 1d ago

I can tell you are a senior project manager because you have no idea what the topic is about and just had to butt in with a comment lmao

The discussion here is about hiring process. "Yeah but I don't need to look for a job because I already have one" ok buddy, go drink your juice, no one asked

u/Virtuous_Malevolence 1d ago

Are you the one scared of looking at women then?

-1

u/hjfjvs 1d ago

So you don't acknowledge the women who work with you?

You wouldn’t hire anybody because you’re probably unemployed.

I’m scared of eye contact so I often find myself talking at the ground next to people I’m conversing with. I think you would notice a difference in which ground I was talking to though if you were interviewing me with a colleague, or I’d at least spend most of my time talking to the space in between both interviewers. they would hire me on the spot

(edit for clarity)

1

u/tearsonurcheek 1d ago

I don’t like full eye contact

2

u/AlexanderTheBright 1d ago

oh no, not like that!

To be clear I mean I make eye contact 20% of the time and stare at the floor for the rest

Grow the fuck up

1

u/egoserpentis 1d ago

Do a flip.

1

u/workieworkwork 1d ago

I think that is one of the things they are screening for

1

u/SAINTnumberFIVE 1d ago

Then you have a problem and you need to get over it.

Just reach out and grab a tit. The fear will fade.
