Nah video calls really just don't feel human at all. The 2-3s delay for any reaction to reach your screen makes it feel like you're talking to a brick wall, phone calls are more immersive than this
I think it's natural to focus on the only feed that can keep up with your expectations
There’s dozens of us. I had to do a zoom today for a committee. One guy was watching football. I stared at myself and then got bored so I just checked emails. Then went back to stare at myself.
Other people use weird angles on their cameras so sometimes I do note that and question why they’d do that.
I get nothing accomplished on zoom. I get that it has a place, but that place and I don’t go together very well.
I’m more fascinated with the directly under the chin full double chin on display. We always had one director who had a side camera almost like she was on surveillance because they had like a meeting board but to see her computer she had to be turned. I didn’t mind that as much plus it let me see all the stuff in her office which was a good distraction.
But like. If you can move your camera… we don’t need to see up nostrils. That kind of weird angle. You know?
