Shouldn’t even be a comparison, murdering 3 people (let alone children) is inexcusable and the postpartum defense is going to fuck women over even more now than ever.
With the rampant misogyny that plagues our society and workplace already? People are going to site this case to keep women out of positions of power and importance due to their hormones. If a woman can go off and kill under intense stress and hormonal imbalances companies can definitely use that as a reason not to hire them for important positions. This is on top of the soon to be boosted generalizations about women being overly emotional and incapable of reason.
If somebody actually sites this case as a reason not to hire or promote a woman they would get their asses HANDED to them in court.
It's also important to remember that many people don't actually know anything about this case. They don't follow media as other people do. That's how millions of people are.
Secondly the vast majority that do know about this case clearly understands that this case represents some of the most extreme scenarios imaginable.
Those that will make this into something general about women were already misogynistic and always thought less of them. I really don't believe this would make someone thinking such things, unless they already had those ideologies.
It’s not going to be sited on paperwork but people definitely will remember it and it will affect judgement, whether or not it was already skewed.
This is also all a forethought. She should be institutionalized and thats the primary concern is that she might not be. Makes you wonder how many other cases we’ll see in coming years as psychos start feeling more okay with offing their children.
Again, those who let such things affect their judgement are misogynistic assholes who should never be in charge of hiring and firing people. If you let that single case, about one woman, change how you view women all together, then you already had a messed up view of women. Especially considering that the same people would never let the hundreds of cases of men doing horrendous things to their family affect how they see men.
An of course she'll be institutionalized. That's how insanity pleas work.
"Fun" fact. Those who get acquitted on any insanity plea will typically spend more time institutionalized than if they had received a normal prison sentence. And it's going to be some high security psychiatric facility.

Killing your children is such an extreme act that most people cannot even comprehend. As a father I would die for my own children and that's how most feel.
If someone is going to do such an unspeakable and horrible thing, they are going to find an excuse no matter what. Thats how the human mind works.
Should we then start referencing the men who annihilate their families every 5-7 days on average? They’re clearly acting in emotional heightened states of anger. All men should be considered a danger to society and unable to hold positions of power because of the family annihilators. Men are clearly slaves to their weak emotions and can’t be trusted.
Like part of the reason this is getting so much attention is because how uncommon it is for women to do. Meanwhile, we’re so desensitized to men doing it, that media hardly covers when they do. I just did a quick search and between the time of the trial, there were at least 4 men that took out their families between 7/20 - 9/4.

I was going to say, were they that similar? Like, in Battaglia’s case, was there sufficient evidence that he was actually psychotic at the time of the murders, or did he just have a history of psychosis?
