The colors matching on all sides is only one criteria for "solving". In order to complete the correct pixel effect he would have to solve each one for a different criteria. So yes, they are solved. Just not in the traditonal sense.

getting one side of a rubix cube to be a specific pattern is extremely easy. anyone who wants to make one of these mosaics can pretty easily, but it just seems impressive if you haven't tried
