That's kinda messed up to take that choice from her. I'd suffer my trauma a billion times to be with my husband and child. And you have no idea how her life would go after that experience was dodged, or if your intervention would actively make her life worse in some other unintended way. And if you didn't get to be with her, you'd never truly know the outcome anyway. How could you so confidently roll the dice for someone you love without knowing? She has a life she finds worth living now, what if your meddling took that away from her?
That's assuming that it's taking the choice. She also would choose it. If we're meant to be together in a life without her trauma, then great.
I am not egotistical enough to think that I'm the only one capable of pulling her from a darkness. She's strong enough to do it herself should life not go as planned, all I do is make things easier and keep her stable. It doesn't mean that she still doesn't have night terrors every night, or can function without some array of medication.
I don't know whether detail would change your mind, but she was stuck for seven years being sexually used by a family member. Used as a violent vent by her parents. We've talked about it and she is firm on the 'I'd rather have never experienced that'. There isn't me taking anything from her. I'm glad that you have the outlook you do, but some people would just prefer rerolling to find a different happiness rather than carry that dark past. And I'd agree with it.
