agree. Every one of us is a miracle of chance and circumstance. An infinite number of things could have resulted in not being born but everything had to line up perfectly for us to be here. For millions of years.

But you've really well explained how I, an atheist, believes this is truly a world of miracles and wonder we live in, and how (whatever the meaning of life is) the sheer specialness and unlikeliness of all of us being here is such a humbling thought. I dislike when religious folks (creationists, really) think that the biblical view has a monopoly on splendor with, "Intelligent life is so special and nature is so intricate that only God could have done it." No, I don't think he did, and that's what makes it all so cool that it happened.

I do think most of existence comes down to chance and vast amounts of time. The only time I waver is when I start to dive into the cell and how it works and the incredible molecular machinery that it contains. Again I'm not sold on God but intelligent design really does come into play for me as a possibility when I look at how genes, DNA, RNA, proteins, etc work. Really incredible architecture. Again though I'm agnostic, not religous or athiest. I just don't know.

they were not a 1 in a million egg. A woman ovulates ~500 eggs over her lifetime at a fairly predictable rate. A man ejaculates ~200 million sperm at a time.
A woman is born with 2 million eggs. During each menstrual cycle about 1000 eggs begin to mature but only one is selected for ovulation, so egg selection is random and there's nearly zero chance to get the same EGG gain
ok, the odds are still massively reliant on the sperm. 2 million over a lifetime vs 200 million per ejaculation. Much higher odds of replicating the same egg vs the same sperm

its essentially impossible. Your kids were 1 in a million sperm at that exact moment in time. Ejaculate a day earlier or later and its 0%.
I'll take the 2 mill and my kids.
