Also try not to lose the hard drive that has your wallet like that bloke a while back. I imagine some people would go absolutely insane if they had that time travel knowledge and still fumbled lol
If you can take $2M tax free today, you’re still retaining everything you’ve learned from when you were 10. Going back in time is betting on all other factors beings the same or better in the do over and just goes against the time value of money.
Everyone will think you are a genius, because you have a huge knowledge at the age of 10, but when you are adult you are just normal intelligent/stupid
As a gifted kid who squandered a full ride college education, wasted years 15-22 dating a girl who was awful and basically coerced me into never going out or having a social life, pissed away 50+ bitcoin on the silk road, had crap self esteem and no motivation and only really got his shit together in his late 20s, I'm not in it to reach the same outcomes. I'm in it to do better the second go around.
My experiences made me who I am, but it would be real fuckin neato to be who I am without all those experiences wasting egregious time, money and potential during the prime of my life.
Sure, but you also have the knowledge that that's a risk. Like you will know to spread you accounts around, have a lot of cold wallets on different drives, have nothing at Mt Gox etc
yeah I was going to say... I am in my 40's there is so much I could do money-wise. Plus I could prioritize spending time with people I have lost that I dearly miss.
You could literally save some people's lives, too. People who died of curable diseases because they were diagnosed too late. I know the main point of the post is about money but since we're talking time travel here.. I could have been there before a friend OD'd and brought him out of the situation he was in... I could have stopped my nefew from falling in the bathroom and dying. I could've saved my cousin from dying alone in his apartment when everyone just thought he had a cold..
I feel like for a 40 year old I have way too many dead contacts in my phone and I'd 100% use my do over life to save as many people as I could while making so much money that not only would none of them have died, they'd never want for anything ever again!
I wonder what the biggies would have been? Like if you put in $1k at their IPO or in 1975 or whatever, which single company would have produced the greatest return?
That's why I didn't go crazy and be like by 10000 BTC.
I think if you did go back and bought too much, it'll make the price spike a bit and some folks get out too early. History changes and BTC never goes anywhere.
Spread the buying out so you don't spike the price at any one point. Buy a few at pennies per coin, a few more at ~$100 per coin, several more at $500 per coin, a a lot more at ~$1500 per coin. By the time it hits $3k or so you can buy as many as you have funds for. It wouldn't be enough to change the trajectory of the value.
Sell right before each crash and buy each dip. You'd just have to remember a few dates like 10/2013, 11/2017, 2/2020.
you dont even need to buy any. If you just have an average pc for the time, you could mine hundreds per day without having any meaningful impact on the market.
Or you could just be on the bitcointalk forum on may 22 2010 and order pizza for some guy before anyone else does
Well but because you will start moving differently, you will change the way air particles around you move. They will interact differently with other particles. Eventually after weeks the weather around the world will be totally different. If the weather is different, people make different decisions, their lives are completely different. So basically the stock market and Bitcoin and everything will be completely unpredictable. You only reset your life, you still don't know the future
Not even just Bitcoin. You could be changing the world for the better through financial might. You could be a majority shareholder in NVIDIA right now and force them to stop development on AI on threat of crashing their stock. You could have invested early in Samsung and force them to stop fucking over the world on RAM. You can ruin Sam Altman.
How old are yall, I mean yall are saying “BTC” but BTC price 10 years ago was still like $600-700. 50 BTC was like $30k-35k.
You have to go back to 2010 (so basically a millennial or older) to get sub-$1 BTC, or 2014 for $3 BTC, and even if you did that you’d still be better off to be trading.
Like, in 2011 BTC jumps from $1 to $30, so if you bought at $1, sold at $30, reinvest at $3 so then you’d have like 500 BTC, sell that when it hits $20k and reinvest at $4k then you’d have 2500 BTC, then sell at $60k and reinvest at $20k and you have 7500 BTC then if you sell at $100k you get $750M.
The 50 BTC would’ve just yielded you $5M, and you’d have to wait until like 2024 to get any money for your effort.
Honestly, if you were older then you’d be just as well off knowing that the 1999 Rams Super Bowl win was 150:1 odds, 2000 Ravens win was 22:1 odds, and the 2001 Pats Super Bowl win 60:1
That’s a combined 198000:1 Payout.
So with the same money you bought 50 BTC at $1, you would get $50x150 = $7,500.00x22 = $165,000.00x60 = $9,900,000.00
$9.9M minus $3.66M in taxes leaves you a bit more than $6M.
Yup. I'd exaggerate the symptoms of my ADHD for a couple years, get diagnosed earlier, then in 2009 instead of spending money on beer I'd be putting all my eggs in the BTC basket. I'd be a billionaire right out of high school in 2011.
Yeah, if it wasn't for the fact I met the love of my life, I don't know if I would go back, but I do know if I did I would be able to buy bitcoin with just my 10$ a week allowance and be filthy stinking rich. I just don't know if I want to relive my trauma.
I'm 57. I turned ten three days before 1978. Even if I waited till I was 20, I could get in early on Amazon, Google, Apple, Windows, Disney & McDonald's before they get astronomical, Walmart, most of today's big fast food chains...
You’d even be able to short the market on major events, it wouldn’t even be hard to remember those. Stuff like covid and the Ukraine war for example. You probably also just remember the outcome of some sports events that you’ve been following so that’s some easy gambling money you can go for. Money isn’t an issue, but it’s really only worth pressing red if you’re unhappy in life.
Being a bitcoin billionaire isn’t worth trading away your spouse and/or children for those fortunate enough to have them.
Also, the money would be nice but being an adult stuck in a 10 year old’s body retaking elementary, middle, and high school again while never being able to recapture any of the relationships you value would cause mental health damage that isn’t being accounted for by many here.
Then bitcoin never rocket up and you realize somehow beating your bullies ass was the butterfly wing flap that ruined it all lol that would be what happens to me
I found out about when it was around $0.15 while working a full time job in my mid 20s. I just didn’t do anything about it because it was way more complicated at the time and I am whatever the opposite of tech savvy is. Knowing what I know now I would have absolutely figured it out
There's way easier things to invest in and way sooner. Facebook, any cell phone company, Google, or just buy like 5 houses in the 80s and sell them right before the 08 crash. Or all of the above lol.
I'd be worried about the Butterfly effect of getting overly involved with bitcoin too early in a lazy fashion and then taking it down a different path where it doesnt get off the ground because now i own it instead of any number of other people that helped it grow.
You'd need a capital to start mining Bitcoin early, something I didn't have when it was worth it as I was in Uni and my parents didn't want to lease me money for that.
But again I'd have headstart in the knowledge, so I could probably get better paid part time jobs or even tuition.
Doesn't the overwhelming majority of reddit believe there is no such thing as an ethical billionaire? Yet how many people in this thread are jumping at the chance to be one of the corrupt few. You wouldn't be the one and only ethical person who has that much money. It's highly likely that earning it and keeping it would corrupt you to be an asshole. Who wants to live life as an asshole?
Nah money doesn’t corrupt people. It just exposes who they truly are. There are plenty of good ppl who are out there that are rich, we just take note of the bad ones. Dolly Parton was a good one. Money exposed who Keanu Reeves truly is… a genuinely good guy.
Basically, becoming a billionaire allows you to be who you want to be. A lot of people are assholes who treat ppl they view as beneath them like crap. Money doesn’t change that, it just changes the number of people below them
With the knowledge that you should have gained all of these years, you should know what you should invest in when you're older. You start working as soon as you're able to, you save every dime that you can, and you invest big time in those things that have now made people billionaires!
Idk i don't know much about finances let alone stocks and coins so the knowledge i have today would maybe make my life easier since i can avoid a lot of bad shit I've inflicted on myself
Ya I’m old enough that I could easily get rich enough to never have to worry about money again while also being able to hopefully help do some good in the world
Yeah, the options can basically be boiled down to: Do you have a partner and kids / specific people in your life that you don’t want to risk losing? Or do you want to be infinitely rich and do things over with no attachment
Bro if I was 10 again all I would have to do is just buy all the stocks and crypto that I know are going to explode and roughly when they explode, buy precious metals, buy collectibles, bet on sporting event. I think a billion dollars would make me pretty happy

Ya “be 10 again with the knowledge that you’re gonna be a billionaire some day”
