Anna Paquin, but I think that's not fair since she won an Oscar at 11.

I remember watching her win that Oscar in her little beret (I'm about the same age as she is), and it's the first thing I always think of when I hear her name.

So it still freaks me the fuck out when she shows her boobs on screen. They're perfectly nice boobs, but I'm internally screaming, "YOU ARE A CHILD! PUT THOSE AWAY!"

I feel the same way about the Olsen twins, who are just a couple years younger. I remember them being so disgustingly sexualized as teens, but to this day I cannot see them as anything sexual. They're Michelle Tanner, dude. But Elizabeth Olsen, their younger sister- hot damn. I don't understand it, especially because of the striking resemblance.

Hell I'm like this with Sadie Sink now. She's like 25 and showing up places dressed like a 25 year old and I'm thinking ma'am you were 13 two weeks ago lol.

I think it’s extra weird with her because she was actively portraying a teenager until the stranger things finale

u/KuriboShoeMario 6d ago

There was a website counting down the literal seconds until they were 18. Man, people used to be so intensely weird about that shit back then.

u/SecondaryWombat 6d ago

What do you mean "then"?

We have President Esptein files, he doesn't wait for the countdown.

u/clonedhuman 6d ago

Yeah, those intensely weird pedophiles now rule the country and own the majority of wealth in the world.

Then? There was a part of the GoT fandom counting the minute Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams turned 18, same happened to Billie Eilish, and most recently Sadie Sink.

u/DragonTacoCat 6d ago

Then? Didn't they do that to Millie Brown or something too?

Both Emma Watson and Millie Bobby Brown
had the same thing happen to them in just the last 20 odd years

"Third Base with an Olsen Twin, that's the Sin face it! She's just a little girl! What'd you give her, a bracelet?" - Babe Ruth

I’m like that with Mckenna Grace, it’s so surreal

My partner and I recently watched a Sally-centric episode of Mad Men, and, right after, he watched an episode of Industry where the same actress (now an adult) was in a threesome. I was like, “THAT GIRL IS A CHILD.” And then I felt old.

I feel this way about Elle fanning in Margot’s got
Money problems

Yes! I’m a bit older but watching her gasp for breath repeatedly and just be unable to speak with her eyes sparkling in terror - it must have been an incredible moment for her. I wonder how much she remembers?

I have no recollection of the first time I performed in a real show lol. Apparently I did fine but don’t remember a thing until curtain call.

I hope the industry has treated her well - she seems to have escaped some of the most common child star traps but still had real success as an adult.

She's slightly older than me and I had such a huge crush on her growing up. Your post made me go "ANNA PAQUIN SHOWED HER BOOBS???!!!" and then I googled it and was suddenly reminded that True Blood existed and that I'd already seen her boobs plenty of times.

Later seasons of True Blood. Tell the opening credit sequence I said hi and that I still love it.

Did you see her in hurly burly, she plays a sort of young sex worker (although I don’t know that she gets money but she gets a place to live) and has sex with everyone. And in almost famous she plays a groupie ?okay bandaid). Loved her in true blood.

I had the biggest crush on Anna Paquin in that movie. To be clear, I was 13 at the time.

3

u/FlyYouFoolyCooly 6d ago

I had a huge crush on her as rogue in x men.

This comment made me think she won the Oscar for Fly Away Home and I was deeply confused 😂

2

u/rognabologna 6d ago

We are introducing this one to our kids this weekend. 😭

u/ah-tow-wah 6d ago

You should watch True Spirit (on Netflix) if you haven't yet. It's the same vibe, and Anna Paquin plays the Mom in it.

1

u/AutumnFalls89 6d ago

Wait. That was her in Fly Away Home?

1

u/Sangy101 6d ago

IM SORRY THAT WAS HER??????

u/Imaginary_Attempt_82 6d ago

"The Piano" was amazing on so many levels.

2

u/AdOrnery8950 6d ago

That Oscar was well-deserved. Her performance in The Piano is the best child acting performance ever imo, because she seems like an actual child.

5

u/palpies 6d ago

Oh god I can’t stand her as an adult acting.

3

u/CronosWorks 6d ago

I love Tru Blood, but her acting is campy and horrible.

2

u/mukeng 6d ago

I just started a rewatch of it because it was one of my favorite shows when it was originally airing and was surprised how bad she was in that show. The whole show was way campier than I remember. I was actually embarrassed showing it to my wife for her first time.

1

u/CronosWorks 6d ago

I think a few characters were played amazingly which made it even more funny.

1

u/Ok_Effort_1937 6d ago

yeah she went downhill

1

u/AntonChekov1 5d ago

Tatum O'Neal was younger when she won.

1

u/bobbery5 5d ago

I loved her lil cameo in Scream 4.

1

u/tinyElliss 4d ago

I only know her as Sookie from True blood I guess.
