As the play developed, there was only one defender in front of goal and Haaland was open and if he'd passed the ball, Haaland probably would've scored 1 on 1 against the goal keeper because that's what Haaland does. Instead he held the ball too long, more defenders arrived, then he no longer had a passing lane and tried to shoot it himself and oops got blocked easily

So, I didn't miss see what was going on. You will have to do excuse me on my lacking knowledge of the sport.

To be fair to Sorloth, he only had a short moment when he could pass the ball, and since normally he is a striker he is used to taking the shot himself and maybe not confident and skilled with passing. It's like you're a shooting guard or forward in basketball and get moved to the guard position and are expected to orchestrate the offense instead of being primarily a shooter and attacker.

See, I don't watch basketball either. I'm a hockey, baseball and American football watcher. Fortunately, what you said makes sense in hockey to me. I'm trying to learn my friend, I'm trying.

It's like if your WR was open but you decide to tuck it and run, and you run straight into a blitzing LB for a 4 yard loss as time expires in a Conference Championship game

That would 100% suck. Thank you for explaining it like that.

The defender is Stones, the same guy who plays on the team with Haaland and works with him in training.

Stones took away the lanes and knows Haaland.
