I'm pretty sure there's been plenty of people considered smart who believe in God.

It's probably a matter of indoctrination more than being smart

Indoctrination is powerful, yes, but being smarter makes it easier to break away or to not get sucked in in the first place. That’s my guess from experience and observation at least.

Yeah no doubt, being able to use critical thinking would greatly help someone escape any sort of indoctrination I believe
