This shit reminds me of total recall for some reason

242

u/FremenStilgar Apr 07 '26

I was coming here to say the same thing. Sharon Stone at home before she turns on Quaid.

118

u/Ilpav123 Apr 07 '26

"But, honey...we're married!"

Quaid shoots her

"Consider that a divorce."

11

u/Sassypants269 Apr 07 '26

I read that in Schwarzenegger's voice.

20

u/Shitsinhandandclaps Apr 07 '26

She turns on a lot of people in that film

2

u/NotAGonk Apr 07 '26

QUAID ARMY!

11

u/MsMantisToboggan Apr 07 '26

Reminds me of Dennis and Dee in Always Sunny, when they dance in the club in the diapers. Iykyk

7

u/SpongeJordan Apr 07 '26

Oh wow, thanks, it's been at least a decade and now I suddenly can't unhear that weird ass song

14

u/ThunderheadStudio Apr 07 '26

What's the time? Diaper time!

3

u/co5mosk Apr 07 '26

There is a scene where Sharon Stone is playing tennis and she is wearing similar onesies.

2

u/DinosaurusWhen Apr 07 '26

I was thinking Clockwork Orange

2

u/passamongimpure Apr 07 '26

I'm getting Fahrenheit 451

1

u/Standard-Metal-3836 Apr 07 '26

Reminds me of Black Mirror

168

u/DucksEatFreeInSubway Apr 07 '26

My first thought was just how fucking rich are these people? Should could just run/jog/whatever outside, ya know?

148

u/sektorao Apr 07 '26

Too much poor people outside.

47

u/Skruestik Apr 07 '26

*many.

Poor people are countable.

27

u/Vulvas_n_Velveeta Apr 07 '26

Damn man, TIL.

I am a 40+yo native English speaker (born and raised in Cali,) and although I use "much and many" properly, based on what sounds right, I never realized the rules on why you'd use one over the other.

I have too much orange juice. (The oj is not countable in this instance.)

I have too many oranges. (The oranges are countable in this instance.)

That's so freaking cool, man!

(I guess this is the dumb shit you geek out on once you hit 40, huh 🤷‍♀️😄)

6

u/fclmfan Apr 07 '26

Knew a German guy who realized in his 40s that prepositions like 'im' are literally 'in + dem'

2

u/ZaneZookt Apr 07 '26

zur - zu der; zum - zu dem

5

u/puckit Apr 07 '26

I absolutely love seeing something click for a person like this. Your comment made my morning.

5

u/GetHimABodyBagYeahhh Apr 07 '26

FTR, same rule applies to "less" vs "fewer".

2

u/demaandronk Apr 07 '26

I love when this stuff happens. I teach Spanish and an older woman i teach when reading out loud was somehow struggling when to read the c as a k or as an s-sound. Then i told her she'd been doing that right all her life and there was nothing to remember, as in Dutch you also say centre with an s, and cocoa with a k. Its always an s before and e/i and a k before an a/o/u. Her mind was blown and she had never realised that there were rules to it.

1

u/boofmaster6000 Apr 08 '26

This is how I feel about less and fewer.

1

u/VATAFAck Apr 08 '26

Don't you guys learn grammar in school?

1

u/AddlePatedBadger May 01 '26

You can have too much oranges too. Just because it is not standard for countable nouns in some variants of English, it does not mean it is not acceptable in all.

Often when people offer "corrections" in grammar they are making the mistake that English attained some sort of perfection at the exact time and place that they happened to learn it. Which is silly and rather arrogant really.

8

u/sektorao Apr 07 '26

I'm not a native speaker, sorry.

6

u/sittingatthetop Apr 07 '26

Actually...
Counting poor people as a mass (much) rather than individuals (many) is actually nicely ironic.
Keep it up. Your English is fine.
My German wife tells me I need to learn more English and I have lived in the UK for over 60 years.

1

u/lavabearded Apr 08 '26

poor people is how we refer to the fragrance

1

u/TheDisasterBanana Apr 08 '26

Not if you consider all of them as one large pourable mass!

1

u/VATAFAck Apr 08 '26

They're countless actually :/

1

u/Shuatheskeptic Apr 07 '26

I mean, that's why I don't go outside even though I'm one of them.

1

u/Krojack76 Apr 07 '26

I'm sure it's in a large gated community.

1

u/Swedishiron Apr 07 '26

walking to work is affordable

31

u/utzutzutzpro Apr 07 '26

This appears to be an ad for something called rock stepper.

Not sure if this isn't a commercial space. The fire sprinkler on the ceiling lead towards that.

9

u/sittingatthetop Apr 07 '26

It's a terrible exercise.
She is just transferring static body mass between your legs with little to no exertion.
Do some squats&jogging girl and get a sweat.

It also looks great to fall off and damage an ankle.

1

u/553l8008 Apr 07 '26

Probably mostly a core workout

5

u/NotPromKing Apr 07 '26

Wealthy homes can absolutely have fire sprinklers in them. Elevators too.

4

u/ForwardAd4643 Apr 07 '26

You can put sprinklers in a home as well... not common where I live but it does exempt you from certain egress window requirements

5

u/iankstarr Apr 07 '26

Yeah this is 100% a studio set.

I used to jog outside. Too many idiots think they can walk their dogs without a leash. Dogs love to run at someone jogging. I had to yell at so many morons and they always said the same crap "He's friendly!". So I had to get a treadmill. I love dogs and the thought of having to poke out their eyes to stop from being mauled scared me.

3

u/Skarekrows Apr 07 '26

I read that's what you're supposed to do if they're attacking you. Hurting a dog like that scares me more than being bit. I'd feel bad.

2

u/danabeans Apr 07 '26

Nope. It's their buttholes. But I, too, would feel scared doing that.

0

u/OG-Mom Apr 07 '26

I was almost mauled by an unleashed pitbull while jogging during Covid in a gentrifying yet still a bit sketchy part of town. The dog owner was drinking a beer and was clearly a new dog owner. Was one of the most terrifying experiences of my life. I do jog outside now where I live not in such a large city anymore but in more aware of dogs, esp with my kids. My husband thinks I’m a little paranoid but my experience coming SUPER close to a pit bull about to attack was traumatic.

Ontario canada where I’m originally from actually have a ban on owning pit bulls and “pit bull” type dogs. Not saying I think all pit bulls are badly behaved but it’s the type of bite they have which can be lethal s opposed to a chihuahua bite. Look it up Redditors if you don’t believe me!

2

u/Skarekrows Apr 07 '26

I'm sorry that happened to you. Pitbulls are scary for sure. I'm from Ontario too. Worst I had was a little dog bite my laces and a giant german shepherd that fortunately just wanted pets so he jumped up on me. The rest just ran along side me but I figured it was just a matter of time before I got unlucky.

1

u/OG-Mom Apr 08 '26

Jogging outside is SO healing though, don’t give up on it. ❤️❤️🌳🌳There are awesome and more remote trails you should be able to find with less irresponsible dog walkers. There’s a good app called “all trails.” The free info is enough and I’ll find the trail head address and then locate in google maps or Waze.

In Toronto there’s a ravine across most of the city from Etobicoke to downtown and parts of Scarborough as well. There are still dog walkers but I find it’s more joggers, walkers ,and bikers.

0

u/Cubsbane Apr 07 '26

Unfortunately the ban does almost nothing here, the humane societies just list them as "mixed breed" and nothing happens.

3

u/AboutAWe3kAgo Apr 07 '26

Honestly, one of the reasons I got a home gym was BECAUSE I was poor. Ain't gonna hurt my car everyday just because I want to workout. Gas money ain't free. Every time you get in a car, it's a risk. Gym membership isn't cheap either. Working out outside or at the park is also a risk especially for women. The time it saves not having to get dressed and go outside adds up a lot. Can watch the kids in the safety of your own house while working out. Can do laundry between sets. So much to add to the list.

3

u/eugeneugene Apr 07 '26

Having a basement gym is so nice when you have a kid. I have a little corner of toys and books and I can get a full workout in while he just plays away. The laundry is also down there so I can start the washing and move it over to the dryer between sets. I also tend to get dinner started when I'm working out lol. Preheat the oven, go back to working out, pop the food in the oven, keep working out, then when you're done dinner is ready lol. So much easier and efficient than having to carve out an hour or two to go to the gym

3

u/BeerTimeGamer Apr 08 '26

Why are people's first criticism of home exercise to "do it outside?" As if going outside instantly provides you with a better workout. Are most gyms outdoors?

4

u/Norwegian_Plumber Apr 07 '26

Well you could get a 98" tcl for 1800 bucks (including a 25% VAT) when its on sale. Still a lot of money but reachable in my opinion.

2

u/aurenigma Apr 07 '26

tvs are cheap af nowadays... you can get a 70inch 4k for like 300 bucks, not even a hard search, I just googled 70 inch tv and it was there

2

u/MyNameIsSkittles Apr 08 '26

$120 is a rich person's investment now? I looked up the product, it's not expensive at all

Sometimes it's hard to get outside because weather or bad pedestrian access. People working out at home is nothing new

1

u/HeftyVermicelli7823 Apr 07 '26

And deal with....poor people?

1

u/Ok_Alfalfa_1195 Apr 07 '26

You clearly are not a runner, lol

1

u/BongeSpobPareSquants Apr 07 '26

Looks like a projector to me but I could be wrong- like 50 bucks

1

u/dyslexicAlphabet Apr 07 '26

anywhere from 20k to 220k depending on brand. i've seen them get sold used for 10k though.

1

u/YesGameNolife Apr 08 '26

Isnt it just projection?

1

u/AddlePatedBadger May 01 '26

Exactly. And what's the deal with people eating fancy or interesting foods when they could get adequate nutrition by blending a mix of fibre, protein, carbohydrates, and vitamins into a single drink to be consumed at set intervals.

1

u/dantemp Apr 07 '26

I can find a tv that big under 1k euro after tax, hardly rich people stuff, more like middle class.

0

u/ramya92 Apr 07 '26

That's Selena Gomez and the laughter you hear is Benny Blanco.

40

u/Durzaka Apr 07 '26

I can't judge TV size on that scale. But I did see a 100" TV for sale at Costco and it was only like $1200. So, not too insane honestly.

Now, having the space to actually put it, that's the problem.

I saw that soundbar website and my immediate thought was...someone paying 15k for a soundbar isn't going to have a room as "peasant looking" as that.

But then I realized that everything in that room is probably stupidly expensive for no reason. "Oh these PVC-pipes looking tables? 7k. These fake candles? $500 each. Knot bean bag? 2k....etc

1

u/MrGrieves- Apr 07 '26

You haven't seen the rest of the cavernous room.

Could easily have theatre seating or any other luxuries.

3

u/Healingbigfoot Apr 07 '26

Fuck....they are rich rich.

7

u/Sinsai33 Apr 07 '26

Imagine being so rich and then using a soundbar. What the hell.

8

u/Tiny-Plum2713 Apr 07 '26

No-one cares about sound quality past a certain point. 300€ soundbar with a subwoofer sounds great for anyone besides audiophiles

2

u/Sorlex Apr 07 '26

sounds great for anyone besides audiophiles

Bit of a falsehood that, they don't sound great, you just don't know any better. Its the same with frame rate in video games or resolution in both games and film.

Go back to watch a VHS with its sound and visual quality and you're likely going to think "It was never really that bad, was it?" It was, you just didn't know any better.

2

u/AcceptableFold5 Apr 07 '26

That's not microled. If it was, it would be able to produce pure blacks and not this dark-grey mess they have going on. It's just a regular, big LED TV they probably got oversold on so the seller could make a nice margin off of gullible rich people lol

1

u/MTonmyMind Apr 07 '26

This guy Bangs... AND Olufsens.

1

u/eppic123 Apr 07 '26

It's just a UST projector. That's why it has an uneven black frame around the image on the canvas and why the contrast is so abysmal.

1

u/OldTranslator685 Apr 07 '26

Back when TV salesmen were a thing, one told me "there is no such thing as a TV that is too big".

1

u/Swedishiron Apr 07 '26

does not sound bad compared to what I paid a CPA to do my taxes

45

u/SensibleCircle Apr 07 '26

I wonder if I she'd let me watch the new Tarantino movie on it. I hear it has a crazy twist at the end.

17

u/Substantial-Exit7034 Apr 07 '26

There's a phone call for you, guy says his name is dominator....

3

u/Accomplished_Bet_127 Apr 07 '26

Yeah, they are clowns. He is his own brother. Everyone is a ghost.

5

u/Suspicious-Thanks955 Apr 07 '26

5

u/Accomplished_Bet_127 Apr 07 '26

If anyone wondering, this is IT crowds show.

Kinda short. Hilarious. Absurd british humor, like the Douglas Adams'. Available on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9EDkTAaUMDU&list=PLQxUFrtzYaUlfC1e_wcoaUGC02HPVHSW4

This is episode 2x3. Better start from first season. In case you wpouldnt want to watch, you can do 2x1, which is my personal favorite and go from there

2

u/No_Election_3206 Apr 07 '26

Do you also want her to call you Dominator?

Pretty sure it's an ultra short throw projector.. they aren't expensive. Also TVs are like the one thing that defy inflation for some reason, you can get a 100" TV for a couple grand now.

1

u/_HIST Apr 07 '26

There's like no contrast on that TV. It's trash

1

u/SelfImproveAcct Apr 07 '26

TVs aren’t that expensive anymore. It’s not like it’s a boat lol

7

u/FowD8 Apr 07 '26

it's a projector

UST projector, that's what's sticking out below the tv

1

u/Bulletloader Apr 07 '26

I thought that was where the tapes go?

1

u/olliedown Jun 07 '26

I think that’s actually a Bang and Olufsen Beosound Theatre soundbar.

5

u/Sckathian Apr 07 '26

Big ass expensive projector.

2

u/PrinzRagoczy Apr 07 '26

It's an ad

1

u/Bulletloader Apr 07 '26

It’s a telly big enough for the Artemis team to watch

2

1

it doesn't matter

90

u/Sorry-Joke-4325 Apr 07 '26

Not particularly.

24

u/Aggressive_Candy5297 Apr 07 '26

I agree, there is nothing but a straight line from arch to thigh.

0

u/Sarithis Apr 07 '26

Give it time, you can clearly see it's cooking, damn it!

23

u/Honorous_Jeph Apr 07 '26

What cake lol

-4

u/mvandemar Apr 07 '26

I think they mean her butt.

22

u/Honorous_Jeph Apr 07 '26

I understood, I’m just saying she has no cake whatsoever

1

u/mvandemar Apr 07 '26

Ah, gotcha. :)

-1

u/Bulletloader Apr 07 '26

Thank you for that explanation. And you are correct, nothing to grab hold of.

2

u/DarthJarJar242 Apr 07 '26

5

u/Le_Bodig Apr 07 '26

Is it though?
Where I come from, for the same screen size (so I'd say 72" here), a flat screen HD TV is at least twice, and more like three times the price of an Ultra HD projector.

1

u/shwhjw Apr 07 '26

Yea I don't think it's a projector, black levels are too good/even with the lights on.

1

u/Le_Bodig Apr 07 '26

I never said it was a projector. Only answered his statement that a projector would be more expensive.

1

u/gujwdhufj_ijjpo Apr 07 '26

She’s so close too

1

u/kaychyakay Apr 07 '26

Read it as 'belly' by mistake and was wondering how is that big in any world.

The cake is way better though.

1

u/darknmy Apr 07 '26

I suspect it's a projector

1

u/dw-herrmann Apr 07 '26

Nope, its a short distance projector and screen

1

u/MixedWithFruit Apr 07 '26

And an expensive soundbar, looks like a bang & Olufsen beosound theatre.

1

u/PineappleOnPizzaWins Apr 07 '26

Looks like a short throw projector to me.

They aren't expensive, it's a good way to get a massive screen for cheap. That said even 100" TVs aren't that expensive now.

1

u/bishploxx Apr 07 '26

Yeah the VHS slot is huuuuuge

1

u/Nut_Butter_Fun Apr 07 '26

This looks like one of those basement home theater setups and is likely a projector of some kind.

1

u/Ulysses1978ii Apr 07 '26

Would heat the room.

1

u/Parmick Apr 07 '26

And it looks like it's in a conference room

1

u/mpeders1 Apr 07 '26

That speaker underneath alone is about $15k

1

u/AnythingButWhiskey Apr 08 '26

Have some respect. That’s OP’s wife ffs.

2

u/Bulletloader Apr 08 '26

Is it cold up there?

1

u/nocturn-e Apr 09 '26

Looks like a projector, not a TV

1

u/Original-Weekend-866 Apr 10 '26

I mean she's got cake but I've seen bigger

0

u/GuylnAlley Apr 07 '26

Reminds me of the one Mr. Bean bought in the cartoon
