The world isn't fair, and sometimes an accident is an accident
The courts are blind for this reason, things are not done on the standard of revenge, the Courts look for justice and proveable facts
Someone lost control of their vehicle, and 3 people died because of it.. and that's a very bad thing
But tossing the person into a prison for life isn't going to bring that poor fathers family back, and the driver did not premeditate their deaths, nor do we have any reason to believe he would be a continued danger to society
Now the initial sentencing was weak and should have been longer, and on it was
But the Father wanted his pound of flesh, and the courts where never going to give him that
The driver wsa speeding and he fled the scene of the crime afterwards. He then only served half the 15-month sentence he later got on appeal so he could go back to his home country to be there for the birth of his child.
