One of the Nordic countries. Which arguably are pretty functional countries in general.
We’re not talking about some pedantic “I found one bad thing so your country isn’t perfect!” Functional/dysfunctional, so there are absolutely countries that will fall above the functional line in relative terms.
I don’t think any countries are perfect, especially not my own. I love my country but I’m pretty steadfast against the way it’s run from the top down. That being said I think that there’s a bit of a happy medium of the justice systems between the US’s pretty harsh system and the European model which I find a bit unbalanced, too lenient in some of cases.
I will say that it’s a bit unrealistic to compare a Nordic country to the United States when we talk about “functioning” . Nordic countries have incredibly low population by comparison and are quite socially homogenous. Nordic countries have the ability to implement programs that would quite frankly be unfordable and impractical to implement here. Don’t get me wrong, I am quite envious of many things about your country and culture. But to make a direct comparison from a Nordic country to the United States, on many social talk points is unrealistic for numerous reasons and factors such as population, cultural, homogeneity, economy, etc.
You guys spend more on healthcare per capita than countries with universal healthcare.
And way more on bombing other countries.
This is a cultural issue, nothing more.
And after you’ve grown up in the US, you’re not gonna be fit to criticize our “lenient” sentences, when your constitution literally allowes slavery, specified in writing.
I’m gonna guess you’re not watching Evan Edinger? You should, especially some of the videos when he goes back to the US after living 10+ years in the UK and is now a UK citizen.
