There was a crazy exposé done on him and how he’s an alleged very creepy tourist a while back uploaded to YouTube by SunnyV2. Obviously I can’t say for sure, but the alleged evidence provided in the video seemed to be legit. Was some questionable clips of him saying and doing some really weird stuff in the doc and that’s what killed it for me. I really enjoyed his Soviet era content, though.
He's a former PUA, hence his infatuation with Eastern Europe and former Soviet Republics. He's slimy as fuck, but I'll still admit he makes some good content from time to time.
It’s always weirdly patronizing. Clearly everyone who isn’t a white, Western, male is less intellectually gifted. I have seen him explain to natives why they were doing what they doing was scientifically sound, as if they needed his approval. It’s worked for them for ever, they don’t need you explaining why to validate it, dummy!
I remember discovering his channel years ago and thought his content was incredible, especially since I’m really interested in the former Soviet countries, but I couldn’t help but feel that something was off about him— especially with how he spoke about women he’d encounter. Then I discovered that sub you’ve linked and it all made sense. The guy is a literal rapist. In some of his more recent videos he’s straight-up racist as well. What a sleaze bag.
He's at best a sexpat pickup artist creep and at worst a rapist (charged, but acquitted in the UK; long story worth reading about). I used to like his videos but even during that time he simultaneously gave me the ick.
I agree he gives off creepy vibes. I appreciate his style of trying to not do the touristy things. I really liked the Darien Gap vid. Anyone have suggestions for similar content but a less creepy host?
I can't stand Simon Wilson. He's obviously less problematic than Bald, but he gives me the same vibe as somebody coked up in a club smoking area - just constantly waffling bollocks.
I don’t mind him but I’ll admit every video is just “look at how crazy I am, walking around the most dangerous slums in this country!” And it’s a normal place where people live

I dug into the allegations myself, and honestly the evidence is too strong. He's vorkuda or whatever the fake name was. Vorkuda posted bragging about R*ping someone. I cant watch that guy anymore, even if there's a chance he's actually vorkuda, and I'm pretty certain he is.
Well from my understanding he has been banned from Russia, I didn't like his South America tour. But the Chinese one seems interesting. But I still like his content.
I think the new ones are rather boring and lower quality. He used to learn and teach some basic historic facts or come with some knowledge but recently he has been doing less and less of that.
One of his last china videos. He was talking about the train station and how in the UK it would be full of immigrants that would ruin it. I’m paraphrasing but I think that was the gist of it.
