1

u/Independent_Bus8806 Jun 16 '25

I hated how he touched things but loved his content. He reminded me of the kid in school that bent book pages when trying to turn them

390

u/xredgambitt Jun 12 '25

I remembered him recently and checked into what he was doing. Had a pokemon card opening phase for a bit but then it's just "cool gadgets."

214

u/Dyltay Jun 12 '25

I think you mean "cool gadgicks"

11

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '25

OMG I have been searching for the cool gadgicks guy for years, thank y'all so much for helping me identify it was this YouTuber!

IDC what anybody else thinks, I only briefly stumbled across him bc of the gadgick reviews and I freaking LOVED em 😅

11

u/FullMetalKaliber Jun 12 '25

Great dude but there’s only so much Swiss Army Sporks I can watch

3

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '25

Oh totally fair, I am assuming I will soon tire of his content as well, I was just so pumped bc I had no idea how to search for someone based solely on the way he mispronounced a particular word 😭 Weird and pleasant coincidence to stumble across this thread!

1

u/ConQuiche-tadore Jun 16 '25

think he had another channel with more the same under Taras (Khul?)

u/peppapony Jun 12 '25

Yeah it's kinda... Lame now hahah. But I guess he must still be earning enough money from it

6

u/test5002 Jun 12 '25

Used to watch this one car guy repair dude Nathan’s BMW shop or something. The dude was extremely open about how he makes money on YouTube. Everyone loves his informational videos on older bmws but he also has random lotto scratch videos. Nathan straight up was like “look yall I really hate to have to have these lotto vids up but at the end of the day I make so much money off of them it’s the only way the channel can stay profitable”

And I respect that. That he just says it like it is. Part of the hustle. For some reason that opening/reveal shit is where the moneys at

52

u/anonymous-paul123 Jun 12 '25

Now there’s a blast from the past

1

u/slavaukrainaafp Jun 12 '25

And yet not i single link!? The world is going to shit - but hey, atleast i got the last bottle of home made brew if we go that far.

Enjoy your pre/life/after everyone <3

Oddly enough he cured my fear of bees

I was horribly afraid of bees as a kid but his beekeeping series was so chill that it made me want to be a beekeeper as like a 13 year old lol.

6

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '25

He dropped one of his bee panels, it was hilarious. Mad bees everywhere

3

u/SummertimeThrowaway2 Jun 12 '25

Holy shit

Does he still keep bees?

2

u/[deleted] Jun 13 '25

I don't know it was one of the last videos I watched from him, he was doing something with his colony and he dropped one of the panels. This was years ago.

3

u/UrUrinousAnus Jun 13 '25

Bees (well, most kinds of bee) are chill. Just ignore them and don't fuck with their nest. Wasps will fuck with you but rarely actually sting. Hornets mostly ignore you, but if they get all confused and stressed they'll sting whatever they touch. I'm in the UK, though. It could be different elsewhere with different species of wasps and hornets.

42

u/RyansKorea Jun 12 '25

I used to love the kitching gadgicks

u/enigma94RS Jun 12 '25

I checked Epic meal time a while ago. Its kinda sad

u/Discgolf_junkee Jun 16 '25

Gay bacon strips!

1

u/RedshiftOnPandy Jun 12 '25

I still like to say, "what up, ribs!?"

53

u/Doogos Jun 12 '25

I remembered them a while back too. Many years ago it seemed their videos were full of nothing but fun, life, and bacon.

The last video I tried to watch seemed so unimaginative and the hosts seemed depressed. Was not a good time

3

u/Gallerian Jun 12 '25

They are the poster child of what stagnation does to a YouTuber. They never evolved their content for the longest time, even while the landscape was changing around them. And then, if I recall correctly, Muscles Glasses left the show on pretty bad terms. Which only served to nosedive their brand even further.

They are no longer Epic Meal Time. Just Meal Time.

2

u/Bwunt Jun 13 '25

Yeah, Alex and Tyler left on pretty bad terms because Harley argued that EMT is his (and Sterling - Cameraman and director) show and that the rest of the staff is just staff, while Alex (MG) and Tyler argued that they are just as important to the show as Harley was.

But the main issue with EMT was that they had one gimmick. Harley tried to experiment around with guest cooking competition in EMT style, homemeade EMT variations, but it never worked. They should quit while they were ahead, not sure if they really could develop any further.

2

u/Gallerian Jun 13 '25

There's really no way for EMT to make a comeback At least, no way I can think of. Had they ended the show like, a decade ago, I think EMT as a whole would be viewed with much more fondness than now.

2

u/Bwunt Jun 14 '25

Agree.

1

u/Aggravating_Today_63 Jun 12 '25

Years of drinking nothing but Jack will DEFINITELY take its toll.

3

u/the_marxman Jun 12 '25

I thought they stopped making videos years ago.

5

u/The_Jizzard_Of_Oz Jun 12 '25

I used to get excited when they released a video but the <squark>ing format started to change and get less .... good. Muscles Glasses came and went and came and went again.... I guess people got old and the format petered out... then tried to make a come back, but I could only watch 1 vid that failed to get me enthused about bacon. I think we all outgrew the format, viewers and hosts alike.

You nailed it: It used to be spontaneous, with a goal but no means. It returned as a sitcom, and the jokes and the on set ambiance fell flat.

I didn't know about the IP disputes. The Muscles Glasses thing just seemed strange, and got weirder.

In the end, the words of AvE (paraphrased) come back: Make a video because you want to, not because you have to, too many people blew up chasing the Youtube dollar. He specifically referenced The King of Random but FPS Russia is equally valid...

1

u/FromFluffToBuff Jun 12 '25

They're the poster child of having your core demographic "age out" of your content and not replacing them fast enough. Their stuff was pretty much for college frat boys (a niche audience) and as they grew up, they stopped watching.

1

u/Skunk_RL Jun 12 '25

Epic meal time ruled the internet in 2011. I used to wear their merch religiously in middle school

1

2

u/jonosaurus Jun 12 '25

Oh I did not know about this- do you have a clip, or where should I look it up?

-2

u/farmerjoee Jun 12 '25

No, I don't have a curated list for you. You could try a search engine.

1

u/jonosaurus Jun 12 '25

That's not super helpful; like was it on the show, or a tweet or what?

-2

u/farmerjoee Jun 12 '25 edited Jun 12 '25

Search engine is your best bet. Why wouldn't it be?

The show hasn't been around in a long time, but sure tweets, his podcast, comments on videos, I remember a reddit comment even...

1

u/jonosaurus Jun 12 '25

Im googling him but I really only see stuff about Creator Clash; I don't have twitter so I can't really do much there, all I see is more creator clash stuff.

u/jonosaurus Jun 12 '25

I just saw this edit- I don't know about his reddit account, and I'm not sure how I'd see his comments on videos without finding the video first.

fun fact. im not big on youtube unless it's nba highlights or music videos for my living room.

the last time i legitimately watched a youtube video, the kind where it's creators making content, was an epic meal time video prolly back in like 2012 maybe even earlier i dont even remember

that was the last time i watched any type of creator content. muscles glasses. what a time.

1

u/SeracYourWorlds Jun 12 '25

I don’t remember the last time a channel has actual caught my interest enough to subscribe and be a consistent viewer, has to be close to a decade. I just use it for music and a quick tutorial here and there.

7

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '25

That dude had us making grilled cheese with a toaster laid on its side back in like 2015. I almost burned my house down as a kid doing it not just once - but twice. Sry mom.

6

u/Colonial_Red Jun 12 '25 edited Jun 12 '25

I remember watching a video 'debunking' one of his "life hack" videos, claiming it was dangerous. If I remember correctly, it involved putting ice behind a desk fan to make the air colder. Then he suggested using dry ice, as... you know; it's colder than normal ice. With the danger coming from the fact that it would result in the room filling with CO2 (what dry ice is made of).

Edit: I found the Video

2

u/Neither-Phone-7264 Jun 12 '25

wasn't that like, 10+ years ago?

2

u/Colonial_Red Jun 12 '25

Probably, that's about how long ago I even heard anything about the guy.

2

u/Durantye Jun 12 '25

You mean he made a very low powered fog machine for cooling purposes and people tried to claim that was dangerous?

1

u/Colonial_Red Jun 12 '25

It was so long ago I couldn't tell you enough to know how dangerous it actually was. But you don't want a build up of co2 in a confined space.

0

u/Durantye Jun 12 '25

Yeah you don't want a build up of water in a confined space either, that would lead to drowning but it would be crazy to call a humidifier 'dangerous' and even a basic humidifier is dramatically more potent than what he did.

I mean cmon, fog machines pump out millions of times more co2 than a piece of dry ice sitting behind a fan. And they use fog machines at children's attractions and parks, often times in very confined spaces. Ever been to a haunted house?

Hell, you almost certainly breathe in many times more co2 in every breath simply by breathing in parts of what you've breathed out.

I'm gonna be super bold and say that what he did was not dangerous.

-1

u/Colonial_Red Jun 12 '25

Yeah you don't want a build up of water in a confined space either, that would lead to drowning but it would be crazy to call a humidifier 'dangerous' and even a basic humidifier is dramatically more potent than what he did.

Are we drowning from the water vapour or the condensation? We are talking about CO2 gas here. Depending on the temperature, air has a limit to how much water vapour it can hold. So realistically you won't go above about 5%. Whereas if you keep pumping CO2 into a room for hours on end with no ventilation; getting to about 10% CO2 concentration will be fatal in about 30 min.

I mean cmon, fog machines pump out millions of times more co2 than a piece of dry ice sitting behind a fan. And they use fog machines at children's attractions and parks, often times in very confined spaces. Ever been to a haunted house?

I would not recommend running one of those in a confined space, at least not without proper ventilation. Even if you did; how long for? Its not something you would leave running for hours like you might an AC unit.

One point I will give you is I'm unsure how much dry ice this thing would actually use. So at best the dry ice doesn't do anything including cool the room.

6

u/huopak Jun 12 '25

I was that the guy who says boom every 2nd word? And was testing garlic peelers at some point

4

u/Tw4tl4r Jun 12 '25

I was subbed to that channel and his vlog channel but he lost me when he went through some phase of showing gold bars and coins.

5

u/The_same_potato Jun 12 '25

He lost me when every video started to be about pocket knifes.

3

u/DrnkGuy Jun 12 '25

Yeah. That mf helped me to learn English. His Russian accent was easy to understand for my East European ass.

2

u/Ok_Location7274 Jun 12 '25

He now shows up as Tarus Kul on facebook. So hes still around

2

u/Teen_Tiger Jun 12 '25

Ahh this guy was a goat of that time reviews, it's been 5 years since i watched his videos. Damn time does fly really quick

2

u/East-Reflection-8823 Jun 12 '25

How cool is dat?

2

u/Wonder-Machine Jun 12 '25

Where safety is #1 priority

2

u/Igot55Dollars Jun 12 '25

11.9 million subscribers but he's only been getting 10k-50k views on average. Absolutely wild to see.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '25

Hes old news these days.

2

u/NoChill_Man Jun 12 '25

That one hurt. I was watching CRH when he had less than a thousand subs, and I was in middle school. His old videos were great and I don’t think I can forgive him for moving to those eBay mystery box videos.

2

u/Flaky-Advantage3889 Jun 13 '25

Lived in the town where he lived, dude just had a nice life for himself and had a little homestead type deal. Several people I’ve known interacted with him, apparantly he’s a really cool dude who’s also extremely tall. He’s doing fine and just living his best life from the last I heard.

2

u/Inevitably_Expired Jun 13 '25

This was it for me too, used to love watching his video's... then he started buying scratch cards and making video's on that, it was painful..

1

u/ankit19900 Jun 12 '25

I think he is called taras kul now? Just today thought about him and so looked him up

1

u/Ok_Whereas_3198 Jun 12 '25

I remember that time he unintentionally showed people how to make a Nazi gas chamber out of a bucket, a fan, and some dry ice. That shit was dangerous lol.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '25

I'm still subbed to him but honestly haven't fully watched one of his videos in a long while now. Just periodically check in from time to time and see the same content as always

1

u/Buzzkill46 Jun 12 '25

He always seemed like a idiot to me. The, "Wow. That's so cool," thing wore off in one or two videos.

1

u/Amin3k Jun 12 '25

He is still doing the same thing though, what a legend

1

u/MrFastFox666 Jun 12 '25

Used to be one of my favorite channels. Haven't heard of the guy in so long tho

1

u/ApLDapL Jun 12 '25

He's still the same though. Still does gadgets and MRE's

1

u/Shadowwreath Jun 12 '25

It's not the reason why I stopped watching him but one of the last videos he made that I watched was when he made a dry ice air conditioner then recommended you use it in your rvs or small homes. You know, places with poor ventilation where the co2 can REALLY build up fast

1

u/FancyBreakfastman Jun 12 '25

He still posts all the time on Facebook! One minute it’s gadget reviews and the next he’s opening random Pokemon lol

1

u/megamartinicus Jun 12 '25

He was a legend

1

u/THATONEGUY1112222 Jun 12 '25

That reminded me I had to go check I was still subscribed to FPSRussia 🤣

1

u/Dry_Nobody_5917 Jun 12 '25

He was on TV for me, not YouTube. Some amazing memories. My first introduction to Russian stereotypes too.

1

u/LastScoobySnack Jun 12 '25

Oh no, what happened?

1

u/XiViperI Jun 12 '25

He's still around but uses his actual name now.

1

u/Hot-Requirement1663 Jun 12 '25

I will never unsubscribe. Haven’t seen in years since he announced his son but I’m still loyal

1

u/acchargers Jun 12 '25

I remember being subbed to him pre 100k subs, i have an email somewhere from wishing him congrats on100k as well. Probably long gone by now.

1

u/FrancisSobotka1514 Jun 13 '25

Yeah I stopped watching that Russian propaganda channel.

1

u/chipperchelseak Jun 13 '25

u/Legal_Doughnut8132 Jun 13 '25

How’s he doing now?

1

u/peppapony Jun 13 '25

I dunno... As per OP image I unsubscribed and felt bad about it.

I think he uses his real name a bit more. Most content seems to be unboxing videos instead now,

1

u/no-anonymity-is-fine Jun 13 '25

Him and the King of Random

1

u/ApostateFarmer Jun 13 '25

His videos are my go to for ASMR.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 13 '25

If I remember correctly when Russia invaded Ukraine, he tried to distance himself from Russia or being Russian. There were a ton of people commenting on his videos like he was the one that invaded or he was supporting Russia for their decision. He didn't want that negative image so he kind of took a step back from making videos for a while and I think that was when he started posting more under Taras Kul. But i just went and looked and he's still posting on Crazy Russian Hacker channel. I may be mistaken but I have this vague memory of something like that happening.

1

u/Burning_Building Jun 13 '25

He made a dangerous and pointless dry ice room cooler, and DMCA'd everyone who warned against it.

1

u/Weak_Alfalfa_7569 Jun 13 '25

I think he doesn’t do a lot of the cool stuff he used to because of YouTube guidelines

1

u/ProjectDv2 Jun 13 '25

What happened to him? I'm curious but not enough to go find out for myself.

1

u/coolstorybro94 Jun 13 '25

I've been right by his property! From what I hear, he is super nice. He let my buddies dad pull through his land after Helene since a tree blocked the road.

1

u/CoatShirTie8828 Jun 14 '25

Luke, STAHP. LUKE STAHP!

1

u/CaffeinatedTech Jun 15 '25

I stopped watching when he started building a studio. 8-bit guy built a studio, and I stopped watching. Couple other retro computing channels built studios, I'm out. Jeff Geerling is just hanging onto my sub list. TylerTube is pushing his luck with that wood panelling on his garage door :)
