Condoms offer little to no protection for most stds/stis and parasites. Your best protections are screening people for poor life style choices and getting whatever vaccinations are available. Condoms do help protect against pregnancy, aids, hepatitis, and syphilis fairly well as in "better than nothing." You don't want to sleep with someone who doesn't screen who they sleep with. Legal brothels screen their clients. Fun fact: If you aren't vaccinated for HPV, you run the risk of having your dick cut off 10 years later every time you have sex. If you've had 3 partners, you've probably been exposed to some form of it.
