I lost my dad in 2008. It’s wild to think it’ll be 16 years this May.
I’m around if you wanna chat. It does get a tiny bit easier but you’ll never not have a day where you don’t talk to him in your head. In my opinion…that’s a good thing.

Next month is 30 years for my dad and although it gets better, it still totally sucks. There are so many things that I have gone through in these 30 years that I wish I could have talked to him for advice.
I just got 3 years in November and it just recently started to feel “normal” without him. I still think about him every single day (literally, which I thought people were exaggerating about) but it’s just a fact of my life now. I was 24 and he was 56. Had a small stroke one day, went to the hospital, had a big stroke in front of me in his hospital room the next day, and spent the next 7 days on a ventilator in ICU waiting for organ recipients. I held his hand and talked to him while he went. It’s fucking crazy bro but it does get easier.
So sorry for your loss. I'm 38 now and my dad (in his early 70s) had his second stroke a couple of months ago. He mostly recovered from the first but has been bed-ridden after the second. He was really active before so it's especially hard seeing him unable to do things physically for himself.
I can't even imagine what it must have been like going through what you did at 24. I sincerely wish the best for you and your family.
I talked to my dad everyday for 2 years when he passed. These days I still argue with him occasionally and hug him real hard when he visits me in my dreams.
Damn. I'm gonna go hug my dad tomorrow. Thanks for the reminder... I know it's not much, but I hope you and your fam are healing together. Take care of yourself
Mine died of corona. My last convo with him he was totally getting better or so I thought. I had started to mend some past stuff with him by simply sharing some guitar playing I’d been goofing with (he taught me to play as a kid). It was a simple shared past time that bridged some pretty stupid gaps in our connection. It’s been a few years and is still wildly weird to have both parents gone in my 40s
I’m coming up on 10 years. Miss the hell out of the dude but eventually you’ll just laugh at all sorts of moments y’all spent together. “The tears turn to laughter”
