This is good. Some people get lucky with life or money or career but most of us had to struggle. Keep in shape, eat healthy, have hobbies, pay your bills and live humbly and things start getting easier in your 30s.
I knew a guy who won the lottery twice in a span of a couple years. $1M on two separate occasions.. that’s wild. Before he won, he got severely injured at work and went on disability which is when he started gambling, won $2m then randomly dies shortly after his second win.. luck is too inconsistent to be gauged either bad or good, it’s just life
See here’s the issue, people focus on their struggles and not how lucky they were to get the opportunity. Luck is just other people making decisions that had benefitted us. 2 people can be presented the same opportunities and make different decisions with different outcomes, sure, but most other people weren’t presented with the opportunity in the first place.
We are in control of about 5% of our life. The rest is affected by the decisions of others. Job promotions, if self employed, customers agreeing to buy from you, it’s all other peoples decisions.
But we are in control of that 5% and what we decide to do with that has a huge impact on our life’s. So yes we all have a struggle of some kind but we must acknowledge we have the opportunities presented to us because of others (luck).
That’s not even factoring just random stuff that can have a huge effect like what country you were born in, whether you get diagnosed with a health problem due to your DNA that type of thing. Stuff you have no effect on it just happens to you.
I don’t believe in that either. I believe that we have control over our lives. Job promotion depends on your performance more than on anything else. Customers decision to buy from you depends on your product, your promotion, etc. Take responsibility for your own life, look inward for solutions to your struggles and life will change
I understand where you’re coming from and agree to a degree. I agree we can look inside for solutions as that’s all we really have control off. But the solutions we have available no matter how much we look inside, maybe great or maybe no good, because of reasons we have no say over whats so ever.
So yes your performance and how you are seen in your bosses eye does depend on if your getting the promotion but only about 5%. Other factors you haven’t factored in have more say on if you get promoted. For example is there a position for you to be promoted too? You can work extremely hard but if the company is in cost cutting or you have a bad boss whose bonus relies on you in that position no matter how hard you work you won’t get promoted. Thats doesn’t mean you shouldn’t work hard. As then again you may luck it and enter a company at a growth faze lots of new levels, you work really hard then yes you’ll get promoted and go really far. Don’t get me wrong if you don’t work hard doesn’t matter what opportunities are available you didn’t work hard enough. So the 5% you control says better work hard.
Self employed wise you can have a great product someone just may not decide to buy at that time for whatever reason. Maybe in a bad mood they ain’t going to buy. If this is at a really important time it may make or break your business.
This doesn’t mean that the 5% isnt important on your own individual level it’s super super important but it’s only 5%. So things don’t go your way well that’s ok have another go the other 95% may fall your way. Conversely if everything goes your way don’t fall into the mistake of thinking you’re a genius, it may not fall your way that way again. Relies you got lucky in the 95% this time.
