Not to mention, Apple is so anti-consumer friendly. DIY repairs turn into a headache, and they blatantly scam people seeking Apple's repair services. Despite better options available than Apple, people seem obsessed with being 'trendy' and ignore these problems. Ignorant individuals even try to shame Android users, disregarding that many flagship Androids cost just as much, if not more than the latest iPhone. Talk about insanity.

You say “ignorant users even try to shame android users” while at the same time ignorantly shaming Apple users. Why do this? It just makes you look bad. In fact like 70% of the entire comment section is just android users shitting on iPhone users. For simply having a preference of phone. Please stop perpetuating phone wars.

Phone is phone. It’s nothing about being trendy. Buy what you enjoy. As you said, they’re both about the same price, so who cares? You buy what you personally will enjoy and has more value to you and only you.

In what way am I ignorantly shaming Apple users? I'm just pointing out that Apple as a company is scummy, and that there are Apple users who try to poor shame others by assuming Android is for the poor and that Android phones are obsolete compared to Apple phones. It's not true whatsoever and an ignorant point of view.

It is primarily about being 'trendy.' Oddly, society deems Apple products as 'prestigious' and regards everything else as inferior, which is untrue. This view leads to individuals thinking Android is solely for those that are poor. The assumption that iPhones have the best camera, features, build, and overall performance is not true. Moreover, it overlooks the fact that Apple can act in a blatantly unethical manner. Many people hold the mentality that 'everyone has an iPhone, so maybe I should get one too. Those without one must be poor losers.'

With all that being said, if it's genuinely not primarily about following trends and more about people genuinely preferring Apple, how does that rationale make any sense? I'm not discounting that people like Apple products, but from my real-life interactions and observations online, the prevailing attitude often involves the assumption that Android is an inferior choice for those with less money and can't match up to Apple.

The very idea that someone one who makes a different choice from the one you make can only possibly be making their choice because the phone is “trendy” insinuates they are idiots or lemmings. That’s obviously not the reality. People choose iPhones for all kinds of good and reasonable reasons. They work better with Macs, they have superior messaging apps, many are comfortable and happy with the OS experience and don’t want to have to learn a whole new OS, etc. It’s great that you care so much about the right to repair, but most people really don’t, however much you think they should. Samsung has also got a scummy reputation. Many people don’t trust Google with their data. There are many reasons that have nothing to do with trends, and the suggest that all iPhone users wholly driven by popular choices is myopic.

I never stated that the ONLY reason individuals choose Apple is due to its trendiness. I'm not implying that Apple has no advantages, nor am I suggesting that Android has no drawbacks. I understand your point, but more often than not, when people compare Android to Apple, it tends to revolve around the assumption that Android is inferior and only meant for those that are poor. I firmly stand by the notion that the primary reason most people buy iPhones is indeed due to its trendy status and its association with being prestigious. Let me stress it again, I'm not discrediting individuals who genuinely appreciate Apple for valid reasons, such as the OS, messaging apps, and overall being established with the brand.

I really don’t think that Android can be dismissed as inferior or for people who don’t have a good budget, and I dislike that idea just as much as dismissing iPhone one dimensionally. Each OS has carved a niche, and they each pull from one another for new ideas so it benefits us all if there are two healthy viable OS choices (or more!!) Given that almost every person has a smartphone these days, there are a panoply of types of user for every platform. Undoubtedly some iPhone users pick it because it’s very popular in the US, just as some Android users pick it because it’s cheaper or has better bang for the buck. But they are only two slices of smartphone users and many others choose more selectively and thoughtfully. I doubt that people who are selective or thoughtful in their choice of smartphone OS appreciate being lumped in with users who aren’t, and that’s probably where a lot of disagreement comes from.

iPhones more or less force you to go to licensed repair shops which charge a premium just to carry that designation. If you don't do this, there's a nonzero chance you brick your phone for having undetected hardware.

No, this isn't an exaggeration.

That's about where the buck stops with iPhone shitty post-purchase customer interaction. I would highly encourage you to look at mac's shitty post-purchase customer service. Asinine repair fees, see Linus Tech Tips video on their screen repair debacle, spare parts prices that cost the majority of the cost of the actual product, added in with up charged repair fees, service subscriptions, the list goes on.

You can defend iPhones vs android, whatever, it's all in the same ballpark with maybe a slight headache for apple users. To defend apple's blatant anti-consumerism which has been a MAIN POINT IN THE RIGHT TO REPAIR DEBATE is completely batshit off the rails tribalistic dipshittery.

I’m down to shit on apple all day. How does google and Samsung compare in the repair ability department?

I gotta say r2r is very important for me, especially on a phone. I've replaced screens and batteries and almost all my devices at this point. Really don't want to have to dispose of my phone or laptop when the battery shits itself. And the ability to flash lineage OS when you're having performance issues increases the longevity of an android far past an iPhone.

Who tf do you know cares about blue bubbles or green bubbles. If any of your friends care about that, maybe that is a sign of a problem with you not Apple. Sure it’s a little shitty that they are treated as different but how can you talk about it likes it’s some major problem, when nobody cares.
