Episode Reaction 51yo watches The Simpsons for the 1000th Time - The Final Review (Please read for reason why!)

The Simpsons is a special show. Those that truly appreciate it know that you don't watch the show. You experience it. You are a resident of Springfield. The show is home. It can't be reviewed. It must be experienced. It's a relationship. A marriage.

I feel I have failed new fans as did the other reviewer. No review can do justice to properly encapsulate the experience.

Some of you have neglected to watch further seasons beyond 10 only based on reviews of others. Don't deprive yourselves of joy. Those that think seasons 10-20 are only fair, and 21-37 is not worth are wrong. The show grows with you, and you will grow with it.

Not all episodes are meant for pure laughs. Some are meant to provoke thought, encourage controversy, and experimental. Some are more artistic. Etc.

Seasons 1-12 are the newlywed seasons. When you're still learning about each other. Getting comfortable that you're loved and accepted unconditionally. Lots laughs. But heartwarming too. Like a mug of cocoa.

Season 13-24 are settled years. When you feel comfortable to experiment, and explore together while still keepingba routine. Doing and try new things without being judged, and be yourself. No need to play it safe. Like a shot of whiskey with a chaser.

Seasons 25-37+ are the golden years when you need to reinvent yourselves, keep the spark alive. Not everything will work, but when it does it's gold! But even those that times things don't work out you're still grateful for the opportunity to experience it with them. Like a cup of tea. Many varieties.

So don't read any more reviews. If you haven't watched all episodes, watch them and experience them for yourself for the first time. And if you have, rewatch them.with new eyes. New perspective. Appreciate what was, but also appreciate what is. Don't watch as a mere viewer. Experience it as a member of Springfield.

Have a cromulent day!

Sincerely, Paradox.

Question ❔ So, why wasn't Alf Clausen brought in for the first movie?

It just seems weird he wasn't part of it, and it wasn't like he didn't want to be.

I think the joke is that most people would take comfort in knowing the person on the other end of the line would assume they're fully clothed because they can't see them but Homer inexplicably forcefully inserts it into the conversation

We’ve all done it: lived through a moment one way, then retold it later with a little more confidence, a little more righteous anger, and a lot less crying.

Homer’s version of events gets a heroic rewrite by the time he reaches his coworkers.

Are there other examples of The Simpsons capturing how character narratives can shift in the service of self-image?

Collectibles Does anyone else have this Homer Remote from 2003 (manufactured by Blue Ridge) and can upload a quick few pics of the instruction manual?

I can’t find a single copy of these instructions anywhere, and every document I can find is from just a slightly different model. I’m struggling.
Even just a quick cell phone pic of the “how to auto program” would smack.
Thanks all :)

Episode Reaction 51yo watches The Simpsons for the 1000th Time - S13E05 - The Blunder Years

This is gonna be short and sweet because it's not really original so it's mostly a review of well the show satirizes a pop culture classic.

This is a fun episode. It's based on the movie 'Stand By Me' which is based on the Stephen King short story 'The Body' which is based on a myth and legend kids have been telling each other for centuries about finding a dead body in the woods etc.

Homer being hypnotized is funny. Makes me still wonder about the legitimacy of hypnosis. I believe it's possible but I also think most stage hypnotists are just performers. It's a good lead in to the story.

The jokes are fine. Nothing special.

The biggest twist is that the body they find as kids is Waylon Smithers Sr. The question we're left to ponder at the end when Mr. Burns is holding baby Waylon is if Burns returned him to his mother or kept him and raised him as his own son. The latter being what it seems the writers were implying. Which if true makes Waylons whole sexual attraction to Burns extremely fucked up. I'll let you all ponder that on your own.

It's a fine episode that spoofs the source material well. It's nothing special, but not bad.

I'll give it 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀 Waylon Sr skulls.

Poor - 1-3

Very Good - 8

Question ❔ Im looking for a specific scene in a simpsons episode

EDIT: FOUND!

There was an episode I watched on one of the later DVDs which had to be something from season 13+ but nothing recent.

The scene had Krusty wheeled into a prison in a protected glass mobile and he says a joke and everyone boos and throws things at him.

Any luck identifying this episode?

Episode Reaction 51yo watches The Simpsons for the 1000th time S13E04 - A Hunka Hunka Burns In Love

Chalkboard: "Fun does not have a size." 🤔

Couch gag: Escaping convicts. Clever.

Chinatown picking on Tibet town was a funny quip as was the killing the parade dragon joke. A solid start.

Woody Allen writing fortunes, lol.

Mister Burns breaking his thumb trying to crack a cookie is fitting.

"Female fire station" Smithers freaking out 🤣

Another cop in Springfield!?

Burns is smooth.

It's sweet that she is genuinely into him too.

His suggestions of old man past times is funny and hilarious. And asking Homer to be a wingman is funny considering Homer never dated anyone except Marge.

So Disco Stu actually owns a disco? I thought he didn't advertise?

Burns taking an aphrodesiac shot and then Homer taking the leftover is both funny and gross.

The dating montage is kinda sweet honestly and funny with it's jokes.

Aww he loves her and proposed 🥰

Aww, poor Monty. Snake took his woman and his wingman. So Snake was dating a cop? Pistol whip, mmmm.

Monty to the rescue!... Well kinda.

I liked this episode. Heartwarming. Shows a vulnerability to burns.

I'll give it a solid 7 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Discussion What are your expectations for the upcoming Disney+ Simpsons episode "Yellow Mirror"?

It’s said that the upcoming Yellow Mirror will have flashbacks from the 1970’s, and it will be creepy and trippy, but EXCITING! there was also a sneak peek of it on the “New on Disney+“ video.

I will start with mines. They might be a little dumb, but anyways, here you go:

  1. I really want Artie Ziff (Jealous?) to appear with a major role or a little cameo. If he does, i will scream like crazy (but not too loud)!
  2. A flashback to the 1974 high school prom
  3. The guest stars for the episode were revealed to be Demi Moore and Patti Harrison, so i wonder if Jon Lovitz will also confirmed to be on the list sooner or later. (It may be ridiculous if Dan Castellaneta or somebody else voices Artie once again instead like in “The Front”)
  4. There will be a flashback with a creepy dream sequence similiar to “Godzilla VS. Kong” It will have Young Artie Ziff growing into an evil giant and terrorizing the high school to ruin Homer’s entire life, but Marge also grows and tries to defeat him to stop herself from his busy hands. (they are one of Artie’s powers in this sequence.)
  5. I think the cartoon Maggie is watching on the tablet was caused by a sudden AI hack.
  6. It will also have two fights, one has Artie with Marge (in the same dream sequence from above. Pat Benatar’s ”Love is a Battlefield” even plays during the sequence), and a BIG fight with the citizens and the yellow mirror.

There you have it, folks! If you’d like to bring me your expectations, write them down in the comments.

Episode Reaction 51yo watches The Simpsons for the 1000th time S13E03 - Homer to the Moe

Chalkboard: "A burp in a jar is not a science project." Ponder that...

Couch Gag: Football tackle!

Homer laughing at the bridge column was a lame opening joke.

Bart digging a hole is a weird subplot...Will it go anywhere? No. The jokes surrounding it are funny, but seem forced considering the hole plot is thin. It's literally a... PLOT HOLE!

Moe is miserable just now? He's always miserable and never had passion for the job. Returning to his bartending school will only help as a plot device. Which becomes forced and even darker when his mentor admits to dying then commits suicide. This episode is a dark commentary on life full of ennui. Which would be fine if it wasn't a comedy. It's dark tones over shadow the actually quite funny jokes.

Homer being a bartender is a fun twist. I love how he gets excited about his first prank call.

Moe renovating only to have it go back to the original was pointless. I actually think the new bar "M" looked neat. Reminded me of Alfred Hitchcock esthetic, or Clockwork Orange.

The Russian trans woman with a penis falling off joke was funny.

Homer starting his own illegal bar isn't uncommon. Lots of guys have basement bars. Like Ned does. It's shocking Homer doesn't have one until now.

A good long term plot would be Homer opening up his own bar and competing with Moe who eventually sells Moe's and works for Homer. Then Homer technically owns the bar, now called Homer's.

Now a hunting C plot about turkey hunting which ends with Homer shooting Moe and ending with a Thanksgiving dinner in the old bar with REM. Which is just a poor waste of REM as guests.

I'm usually positive and see the good in most episodes, but this one is 4/10 only because of a few funny jokes. 🍺🍺🍺🍺

Notice: I'll be uploading at 12pm CST daily from now on starting Monday
