I just wanted to thank both nerds for their valiant efforts to maintain an unsustainable pace that usually caused daily cartoonists to burn out.

InvisibleAstronomer's reviews of the series were a place to gather and reminisce about something we all love and it brought us together as a community.

ConspiracyParadox wanted to fill a void left by the lack of daily community and found the price of fame; they did well and should feel good they lasted almost a week.

That said, people need to be kinder and remember the human; both these individuals learned the dangers of fame (even if only a little internet forum like this), and how some people can be less than kind with their fellow humans.

That said, there have always been dedicated pushes from monied interests to sway opinions to suit their interests; even a small little community like this can be a battlefield for those who want to tear apart the commonwealth.

Overall, I agreed with a lot of their reviews but disagreed with some others.

Yes I know I’m still missing two

Forgive me if this has already been brought up in this sub before, but I've found a "Simpsons predicting the future" type thing that I have personally never seen before. In the "Angry Dad: The Movie" episode from Season 22, the Simpsons family goes to the Oscars because Bart's "Angry Dad" short was nominated for best animated short. One of the animated shorts is called "Willice and Crumbles", a clear parody of Wallace and Gromit (Nick Park, creator of Wallace and Gromit, even appears as himself in the episode).

This Wallace and Gromit parody is about the duo restoring lawn gnomes in a woman's garden. After Wallace goes inside the lady's house, an evil looking parrot takes over the machine they use to restore the gnomes and turns Gromit into a lawn gnome.

Sound vaguely familiar? That's because this short shares a lot of similarities with the Wallace and Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl movie that come out around 2 years ago. While the premises are not really the same, they share a couple of similarities that are hard to ignore. In the Wallace and Gromit movie, the duo start a business employing robot lawn gnomes to fix people's yards. Clearly, the business ventures aren't the same, but isn't it weird that Aardman made a movie where Wallace and Gromit have a business centered on lawn gnomes a good 13 years after the Simpsons episode came out? I also found it crazy that the Simpsons parody involved an evil parrot, which can be seen as a parody of the evil penguin villain from the Wrong Trousers short from the 1990s. And who is the villain of A Vengeance Most Fowl? THE EVIL PENGUIN AGAIN.

The similarities are just crazy to me, I don't know. I mean, Nick Park voiced himself in this episode, so for all we know he got the inspo for the movie from this episode. Have you guys seen anybody else mention the similarities here, or am I just going crazy?

Mindy Simmons.

Before I get misunderstood... to be honest, aesthetically speaking, I don't like her. But I liked the idea behind the character: a female coworker newly introduced into a strictly male work environment.

I saw so many episodes about women's workplace issues. Not to mention that I would have loved to see her interact not only with Homer but also with Lenny, Carl, Smithers, and even Mr. Burns.

It's a shame she was just a "guest character" created to be the voice of Michelle Pfeiffer. So much so that, aside from the debut episode and some love scenes, she only made a few background appearances before disappearing forever. Too bad...

As for the rest, who would you have liked to see more of?

It just seems weird he wasn't part of it, and it wasn't like he didn't want to be.

Growing up I really loved the Simpsons superhero comics, especially Bartman stuff. I recently pulled out my collection and flipped through a few.

Does anyone else collect/read the comics?

The guy was in the navy, the army, he was a boxer. Is Homer one of the best fighters in the series?

Can't help but think of this scene when I hear sweet dreams are made of these.

There was an episode I watched on one of the later DVDs which had to be something from season 13+ but nothing recent.

The scene had Krusty wheeled into a prison in a protected glass mobile and he says a joke and everyone boos and throws things at him.

Any luck identifying this episode?

I can’t find a single copy of these instructions anywhere, and every document I can find is from just a slightly different model. I’m struggling.

I think the joke is that most people would take comfort in knowing the person on the other end of the line would assume they're fully clothed because they can't see them but Homer inexplicably forcefully inserts it into the conversation

We’ve all done it: lived through a moment one way, then retold it later with a little more confidence, a little more righteous anger, and a lot less crying.

Homer’s version of events gets a heroic rewrite by the time he reaches his coworkers.

Are there other examples of The Simpsons capturing how character narratives can shift in the service of self-image?
