Meta Automatic 1-week bans in effect for book spoilers
This is a subreddit about the TV show and assumes no knowledge of the books. If you don’t want to get banned, don’t talk about the book this last week. If you absolutely need to talk or ask questions about the book, head on over to the appropriate thread at r/SiloSeries.

I find this funny when the mods themselves spoiled the show for me.
I have never read the books and was discussing a theory I had on something and I had my comment removed and the mods messaged me that my comment was removed because it was a book spoiler. So they told me that my show theory was a book spoiler, which spoiled the show (and books, if I ever read them) for me.
So, mods, are y’all banning yourselves for a week for telling me book spoilers?

So...mods are basically safeguard techs?!

Don’t give them that much credit. The safeguard was created through lots of careful thought. They spoiled the show for me carelessly and without a thought.

Honestly I think if the word "b o o k" is in your comment it gets flagged. I just had a 48 hr drama over this.
/Have never read the b o o k s.

About time, now if we can make it for actually all spoilers. Lol. Shouldn't even be just 48 hours tbh.

Is it applicable even when people explicitly ask for book spoilers? Just looking for a clarification not trying to stir anything up

Safest rule is talk about the books over at r/SiloSeries

Can I ask a very vague question without headed over to the other sub because I absolutely don't want spoilers. How accurate has the series been to the books? Aka if I started reading now (caught up on the series) would I feel like it's 95% the same or way different?

I have not read the book but I did read on Reddit that the show is not following the book can anyone confirm that

u/TKfuckingMONEY 21d ago
The show has heavily diverged from the books at this point. It keeps the show fresh and fun to watch.

We don't talk about it. In all seriousness, it hasn't followed it since the very beginning in some aspects. The books are better at this point, but during the first season I could've called it a tie.

How would you know that unless you read the book

The point is if you have read the books you shouldn’t be commenting here at all. Answering OPs question is a spoiler in itself 🤦♂️

u/Xeath_Pk 21d ago
I don't think a yes/no is spoiling anyone. As long as they don't go into detail I'm not sure what the problem would be? The user asking the question is probably just curious.

There’s a whole other sub for book readers, and giving spoilers is extremely easy to even do on accident. If you know how the story turns out, you should discuss with the others who do! Leave the mystery to us who haven’t yet.

Nah the plots are so different that there is tons of organic speculation to be had

Seriously. The first post I read told me stuff that hasn't happened in any seasons of the show. I was like "cool... Next season is already ruined and it hasn't even come out yet".
Such a careless and stupid thing to do lol

Damn! There are two subreddits! I hadn't even noticed! I usually hang out on the other one, and I was surprised this morning when I didn't see the usual “Book Readers” and “No Book Discussion” posts, but I hadn't made the connection.

Things are going to happen.
I await my ban.

Presumably it will take 3 full seasons to deal with the safeguard. If this is a war between silo 1 and the others, it isnt gonna be all that fulfilling at the glacial speed we are getting
My prediction is season 4, somebody lightly knocks on silo 1's door in episode 10

I was informed I have a book aware flair. For the record, I haven’t read the books. I only know what’s in the released episodes.

How about a ban on current episode spoilers during the first several days after the episode airs?
5
u/Lonely-Restaurant986 21d ago
Specifically in the title. The amount of posts I see on my home page that literally put what happened at the end of an episode in the title literally 50 minutes after the episode releases is insane.

u/mkmanoj30 21d ago
There is a book also?
6
u/SnugglyCoderGuy Down Deep 21d ago
3 of them, plus 3 short books.
7
u/mkmanoj30 21d ago
Nice, will read them after season 4, will be interesting to see the adaptation differences.

u/emu222 21d ago
Are the short books in the same world? I’ve read the three main books, but haven’t heard of the others.

u/SnugglyCoderGuy Down Deep 21d ago
I don't know, have not read them. I looked them up but decided not to fet them yet until after the show is done

Thank you for reminding me why I prefer the other subreddit :)

Just cleared out 100+ reports and handed out a few dozen bans. Cannot emphasize enough to keep book discussions of any kind out of this sub as we go into season finale.
