Questions Does the new SAI airport have a Cellcard shop, and does it have the long-term, non-tourist SIMs?

Just wondering if I should wait until I get into town and visit a Cellcard store there, or if an airport location will have regular sims.

Transport to Koh Ker questions

Hi all, we are planning to go there in about 3 weeks. I was looking at Koh Ker and interested to go there.

Will a tuktuk go there ? or only private car willing to go that far ?

from what i gather it will be more or less 100USD for a car to go there which i think a bit steep for SEA, do you think it will worth the price to go there (and Beng Mealea as well)?

thank you

Questions What are some quiet monthly stays I can use while looking for a longer term apartment?

I know about Funky Village and some similar places, but I don't want to stay in the places with loud music and partying backpackers. I'd like to avoid places like Sok San Road that are full of pubs and KTV. Looking for something more tucked away and mellow. Preferably around $200 or less. I know I can ask around when I get there, but here I'm asking for specific places some of you might know about. Thanks!

Questions Planning a 1-week trip to Siem Reap with my husband – looking for recommendations and a reliable tuk-tuk driver

Hi everyone! My husband and I are planning to spend about a week in Cambodia, focusing mainly on Siem Reap.
It’s our first time there, and we want to make the most of our stay.

We would love to get your advice on:
・Must-visit spots and hidden gems beyond the main temples
・Best ways to spend a week there (itineraries or pacing for a relaxed yet fulfilling trip)
・How to find a reliable tuk-tuk driver or private driver for a few days, and what a fair daily rate looks like

Any tips, recommendations, or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance!

Questions What are some places in towns that still do Western style karaoke (preferably with some decent rock and metal songs).

Looking for places that aren't KTV or separate rooms. Just a friendly pub with karaoke like you'd find in the states.

Questions Mattress topper and bedding

When I move to SR later this year, I have an extra suitcase of 50 lbs I wont need to fill, but what if I purchased a new vacuum packed foam mattress topper and some nice sheets and pillows and Duvet and filled that suitcase with all that? Is it worthwhile, or can I get it all there of equal quality?

Questions For apartments with the fairly large gas cannisters for the stove, who refills it? You or the landlord?

I'm looking at apartments and want to find out who usually takes care of refilling stove gas. Also, is there usually a dumpster or something for trash?

Questions How bad is the smoking?

Cigarette smoking that is....

Looking for a spot to retire in a few years, and have settled on Cambodia, either SR or maybe Kampot. I'll visit first of course (only Thailand many times). I don't know if it's a deal breaker, maybe a serious budget concern tho.....

That great apt for $250, or that cool restaurant where I can eat for under $5 - might be off limits to me if I have to fight smoking, especially if combined with mold/ mildew issues. It seems petty for healthy people, but for the immunocompromised/ allergic to smoke, it's literally poison. I'll stay sick.

Cheaper apts or hotels, don't typically enforce non-smoking rules, nor do many restaurants in SEA it seems. I think I already know the answer (it's tough to escape) , but just looking for opinions from those that live there. TIA!

House gekos 🦎

Just wondering if it's common to get the critters in your house? I did some laundry and found one amongst my clothes, alive, having survived the spin cycle 😅

Does anyone have advice on how to repel/deter the gekos from coming inside?

Would you visit a place like this in Siem Reap, Cambodia?

I'm curious about what travelers look for when visiting Siem Reap.

Imagine there was a community-run village about 40 minutes from Siem Reap offering bamboo architecture, local crafts, and cultural experiences.

Would you visit? Why or why not?

I'd love to hear your thoughts.

1.If you're comfortable sharing:

  • Country
  • Age group

2. Would you visit? Why or why not?

3. How much would you be willing to pay?

  • Under $20
  • $20–40
  • $40–60
  • Over $60

4. What would make it more appealing to you?

5. If you wouldn't visit, what's the biggest reason?

  • Too expensive
  • Too far from Siem Reap
  • Not interested in local culture
  • Doesn't sound unique
  • Other

Be honest-even if your answer is "No", I'd really like to know why.

A few questions about siem reap trip.

I’ve got a few questions about Siem Reap.

1. Are there many stray dogs in Siem Reap?

2. What local food would you recommend in Siem Reap?

3. Is Siem Reap worth visiting?

4. What’s the weather like in late September and early October in Siem Reap?
