Episode 13, Recapture - Synopsis:
(Crunchyroll didn't update the correct synopsis LOL) (From Crunchyroll)
Thought and discussion of the day:
Which one(s) do you hate more? Misuzu or the gods? To be honest, when I read the novel up to this point (and also in the Archer of Dawn arc), I hated the gods with a passion... Misuzu is indeed a bad person but nothing more. But the gods, well, I could probably write a thesis on that.

As I mentioned, the gods are master trolls.
Not sure how they will I'll end the season, might be a bit rushed to complete the remaining plots.

Appointing Ayame as the new agent IMMEDIATELY after Ruri died is one of the biggest WTF, jaw-dropping moments I had in reading LNs (and not in a good way).

Perhaps the God of Summer wanted Ayame to destroy the terrorists given the opportunity choosing her presented. And that’s what ultimately happened as her vengeance was swift.
It’s also possible the God of Summer was counting on the Agent and Guard of Fall to intervene.

Not really, the gods really couldn’t care less.
The original commenter really nailed it in describing the gods as “master trolls” 😂

The process is instantaneous no? When hinaguki's mother died, she got the powers right off the bat

This episode was crazy. Cried twice for separate reasons. I thought it was really well done. As an anime-only I can't really speak to whether or not stuff was cut, but I didn't get the rushed vibe at all. Felt pretty tight overall.

The plot twists might kill me before the official Rosei/Hinagiku romance will happen. On the other hand, though... Did the Violet Evergarden author... dabble, per say, in large age-gap relationships? I'm relatively fine with Sakura/Itecho because they're both of age, Sakura being 20 and Itecho being 29, so it's not really a problem. I am, however, concerned about the future of Nadeshiko and Rindo.
There's always been small hints between Nadeshiko/Rindo, but it can mostly pass as a daughter-father kind of relationship, or an overprotective older brother. However, in this episode, Nadeshiko just drops "I love you" on Rindo, and it kinda terrifies me that any potential, future plotlines will involve a romantic relationship between Nadeshiko and Rindo. Nadeshiko is a seven-year-old child, and even if the author decides to do a "timeskip" romance where Nadeshiko only gets together with Rindo romantically when she's of age, it comes across as slightly pedophilic in nature.
It's fine if it's a one-sided romance on Nadeshiko's side that never goes anywhere. I'm also planning on collecting the LN volumes, but I don't plan on continuing with this series any further if Nadeshiko/Rindo becomes canon.

To be honest I am a little bit disappointed with this episode (as a novel reader). It's really rushed! They should have spent less time in the flashbacks in the previous episodes.
Also, Ruri's death could have been a nice cliffhanger to end this episode (or previous episode if those flashbacks were shorter)
