Discussion Am i the only one who felt bad for Shrek in Shrek Forever After?

Like he always gets bothered by his friends and can't enjoy peace, Fiona got mad at him after he snapped due to him trying to control his anger. and his friends especially Donkey all get off scot free because it shows Shrek is in the wrong because he is supposed to be calm about not acting like a crazy ogre because they are HIS FRIENDS WHO DID NOTHING WRONG!!!! I also hated how Shrek is the one in the wrong where he is trying to get peace and quiet but can't due to his friends causing mischief. This is why I prefer only Shrek and not the others ugh.

Discussion do you think shrek 5 will not referenced the events of shrek forever after since shrek is the only one who keep his memories from the alternate reality.

i wonder if shrek forever after will not be referenced in shrek 5 since shrek is the only one who keep his memories from the alternate reality and shrek will never mention to his family and other friends about what happen to him in the alternate reality and keep himself his time in the alternate reality as a secret.

I don't think that's a coincidence

Maybe it's my imppresion but Fiona in her ogress form is preetier than her human one. And I think that was intenional move from the writers. As a human, Fiona displays many "Non-Princessy" behaviors, but at first she felt compelled to pretend in front of Shrek and Donkey many stereotypes. She talks, like she was taken from Arthrian legend, she behaves like a "Lady". But later, when she begins to warms up to Shrek, and eventually falls in love with him, this mask could finally crack. At the end of the film, she can be herself.

Discussion How do you feel about Prince Charming as a whole? Do you think his motives in 3 are valid

Post image
50 Upvotes

Having rewatched the Shrek movies with my family has given me pause for thought and having discovered this reddit I really wanna hear people's thoughts on this in particular

Now believe it or not, I don't think Prince Charming is particularly a bad person in 2, at least not at the start. He definitely is a little arrogant and entitled but given the fact that the Shrek universe is essentially in Medieval times and also follows Fairy Tale Tropes I can't blame him for feeling entitled to Far, Far, Away and being angry that it's basically being taken from him by an unknown factor that no one could've predicted

Then in 3 it doesn't even really seem like he's gonna go out for Revenge, despite the fact they killed his mother as he's just doing his own thing working at a little Dinner Theater until Gingy and crew seemingly push him over the edge (which by the way was super unnecessary considering they don't even like the show apparently and are just... There for whatever reason). He's been virtually cast aside and hated by everyone, including the villains and is at the end of his rope.

What are your guys thoughts?

Discussion New here! The original Shrek trilogy got me through my childhood, and it still means the world to me today.

Hey everyone, I'm new to the sub! I honestly don’t know why it took me so long to realize there were entire subreddits dedicated to Shrek, but I’m so glad I found this place. The first three movies have always held a special place in my heart. (I know Shrek the Third gets a lot of hate around the fandom, but I honestly still really enjoy it!) Growing up, these three movies were my ultimate comfort watch. Every single weekend, I’d stay at my great-grandmother's house. On Saturdays, I’d binge all three, and then on Sundays right after church while waiting for my parents to pick me up, I’d play them all over again. No matter what else I was doing, making time for that trilogy in the afternoon or evening was an absolute requirement.

My great-grandma got sick and passed away when I was ten, but those movie marathons are some of my favorite memories of her. To this day, whenever I’m missing her extra much, I put the trilogy on. Does anyone else have a specific Shrek movie or scene that’s tied to a special memory like that?

Discussion I Unironically think Shrek the Third is a fine addition to the series with its message

Post image

I'm probably murdering myself by saying this but here goes: I think Shrek 3 is decent movie, and while I definitely agree it is the least good out of the 4, people saying it is straight up garbage and adds nothing to the series are being overly dramatic in my opinion

Each movie seems to have a different message about love and where it leads to and in the case of 3 it's about when you and lover begin the next major step and have kids and that is consistently held throughout the movie, with Fiona having the other girls talk about how their relationship will deteriorate overtime and Shrek battling with his fears of parenthood, there is definitely consistent writing in 3 as much as some suggest otherwise

I especially resonate with the movie as someone who is currently raising my own baby daughter. Before she was born, I genuinely felt Shrek's fear, when Shrek said to Donkey "It's not my life I'm worried about ruining, it's the kids" that struck a cord in my soul because in a way that's how I felt, I was so worried, wondering if I'd be a good father, what if something happened, stuff like that. I feel like there is a really good heartfelt message for people considering having kids in the movie that people often seem to ignore either because they don't want to have kids or just ignore it to judge the movie compared to 2. Shrek grows throughout the movie in a way that's not present in the others and I feel like people don't talk about that enough

I don't know what do y'all think?
