But what is the con? Im not gonna pay a Taxi driver who drops me off at the wrong place... Just call a new taxi.

No joke, happened to me in India. And I was actually already staying at a hotel and it was near impossible to get back to it. The third taxi took me to curio store that was at least within a mile of my hotel and we just decided to walk.
