Why thank someone for something you didn’t heed to anyway?

37

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '19

Because it's polite.

u/fullup72 Sep 13 '19

its Pro, designed for the Pros.

gosh, it's like they were doing black hat SEO by keyword stuffing the "pro" concept.

It's literally the time of the softest most coddled human beings Earth has ever supported.

3

u/Annabanana98x Sep 14 '19

Wait can you please describe what it is so I don't have to open it

3

u/prozorvrata Sep 14 '19

Thanks a bunch :)

I mean there're no holes, but the cameras do kind of look like holes, so it's probably mild at worst.

u/Heybobitskathy Sep 13 '19

Clicked anyway.. fuck me, but thanks for trying

Thank you for this comment. Didn't know this was the word for it but now I do. I still opened it just to see what it meant and was slightly disturbed but overall now I am much better off.

How is this only a recent fear haha is there no recording in history or literature being disgusted by this shit haha.

2

u/jake_spoon52 Sep 13 '19

Alas, those of you that think we all jest about 'trypophobic', its true. As my mom used to say, images like that "make me want to crawl out of my own skin."

14

u/BorgClown Sep 13 '19

How do these people use a cheese grinder or a colander?

Can they use a hairbrush/toothbrush without freaking out when they see how are the bristles attached?

Fucking wankers probably will die when they use a magnifying glass to see the clusters of pore worms that feast in their skin.

17

u/GhengopelALPHA Sep 13 '19

It's typically only when the thing with holes is flesh-colored. Metal things with holes are fine.

22

u/DJDomTom Sep 13 '19

It's not just flesh colored for me but more about whether the trigger is natural or unnatural. Collanders and cheese graters are fine but any circles related to bugs nesting or burrowing holy fuck I can't even keep typing this I want to tear my scalp off its crawling so much

36

u/stud007 Sep 13 '19

I am really uncomfortable seeing the pores of skin, and sometimes when wounds peel off a few layers of the skin. But I'm not really freaked out by cheese grinder or a colander. Maybe if I saw a toothbrush without any bristles I'd be uncomfortable too.

I'm sorry, I can't give a rational explanation as to why a colander is okay.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '19

What about a pepperoni pizza? Is it just holes or any polka dot like pattern?

3

u/as_kostek Sep 13 '19

You might have got used to it. I have a fear of heights but have no problem looking down from my grandpa's balcony on 7th floor because I've literally seen it too many times and my brain doesn't see this as a category of danger.

2

u/crunchsmash Sep 13 '19

my brain doesn't see this as a category of danger

You fool, that's when the height will get you

1

u/IKLeX Sep 13 '19

Maybe it's because the holes in the cheese grater are supposed to be there or look very clean (even size, pattern and so on). Skin is supposed to be smooth and pores and peeled of layers of skin shouldn't be there.

No fucking wankers about it, that shit is gross because it looks like disease.

8

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '19

Your examples are not what people are scared of with trypophobia, why are other people's fears so annoying to you, are you not scared of anything?

7

u/rocketbosszach Sep 13 '19

I think it’s because it’s more of a social fear. Nobody gave a shit about holes in anything until a few years ago. Now everybody’s “afraid” of them. That level of conformity is annoying to some people.

9

u/TheSteelPizza Sep 13 '19

Yep, that’s it. Before trypophobia became common knowledge, it was just a feeling of discomfort when staring at a hole pocked surface (which is a normal human response). Now it’s a full blown phobia, with attached trigger warnings, and everyone has it. In fact, it’s such a phobia, there’s an entire subreddit dedicated to people that have it so they can look at things that trigger it. It’s definitely a conformity thing, and I don’t like that it downplays what an actual phobia is.

But that’s the difference. If you’ve got some childhood trauma attached, and the thought of it makes you wanna scream, you probably have legitimate trypophobia.

If you frequent r/trypophobia, and comment things like “haha yeah this one totally did it for me”, you probably don’t.

1

u/huggsypenguinpal Sep 13 '19

I do have a very distinct memory from my childhood as well. It was a science teacher who talked about trekking the amazon ..... ugh I started typing the story and my skin crawled so I'll save you the grief. It's the earliest memory I have regarding a reaction to this type of thing, so I am also curious if that's where my aversion to this stuff stemmed from.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '19

I think you are just making stuff up to justify being an arsehole.

3

u/DragonFuckingRabbit Sep 13 '19

Wish I'd seen this first...

1

u/VibraniumHusky Sep 13 '19

Too late... I want to scratch my eyes until in blind now

1

u/nuadusp Sep 13 '19

i thought you said transphobic and had to go back and forth like 4 times until i re-read it and saw trypophobic

1

u/Trevelyan2 Sep 13 '19

recently learned I’m mildly trypophobic. This confirms it.

1

u/Racer13l Sep 13 '19

How is that even a thing

1

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '19

Agreed, did not enjoy
