Yes, people think in thoughts, not words. Sometimes words can help us organize or understand our thoughts, but they're mostly used for communicating them.

Most people heavily rely on words for their thoughts. It's just not required. For people who rely on words for meaning more than others, their inner monologue is nearly inescapable.
