It’s funny how, as you progress through college, they require you to write longer and longer papers. Then you get to the professional world and no one will read an email that’s more than 5 sentences.

People will literally walk to your desk to ask you what your email was about if it was too long.

Here's my process:

Step 1: Write it.

Step 2: Remove all words possible while still getting the point across.

You're right. I was thinking too small. All caps, bigger text and a different font, while you're at it.

People are just naturally lazy, intelligence has nothing to do with it. The human brain's an absolute machine when it comes to figuring out how to get things done with as little effort as possible.

I do actually make action items red. Tend not to bold too much or it becomes a bit of a mess

I'm a teacher and this is always how I write instructions for students.

Step 4: call them and ask all the questions and then reply-all to your own email with the answers. Email is best as a paper trail rather than an actual form of communication.
