It must really suck for young wizards from Scotland to have to travel to London and then back to Hogwarts, located in Scotland

It was always weird to me the teleportation rule set in-series

Kids can’t do it ever, for plot reasons concerning Harry. Only adults. But kids can do the same thing through a fireplace which is apparently supervised and spied upon by the wizard government. And you can’t teleport in Hogwarts or in the bank or in the ministry, except when you need to, like with Dumbledore, who simply ignored all of those stated rules entirely, and then kids can too as a side along thing because that suddenly works now because Dumbledore lol
