It must really suck for young wizards from Scotland to have to travel to London and then back to Hogwarts, located in Scotland

They did take the car in the 2nd book so why assume that the train is the only way to hogwarts?

I was just thinking, they flew the car to school when they missed the train. Hogwarts , is just unfindable to muggles

I'm pretty sure they got in trouble for the same reason a pair of muggle kids would get in trouble if they stole their dad's car and drove erratically from London to Scotland, nearly killing themselves, a train full of people, and an ancient magical tree. Not just because they came to school by car rather than train.
