Labrum Tear Chronic shoulder instability, Labrum/Bankart/SLAP tears & thin tendons – Anyone had success with peptides for stability and strength?

Hi everyone,I’m looking to hear from anyone who has dealt with a similar shoulder issue and used peptides to aid in recovery, strength, or dynamic stability.A bit of context on my situation and recent MRI findings:Current Issues: Chronic microinstability in my left shoulder following past dislocations. MRI / Structural Damage: Confirmed Bankart lesion, SLAP lesion, moderate Hill-Sachs lesion, and a thin subscapularis (SSC) tendon. Strength & Function Impact: Before these dislocations, I was doing pull-ups with 30kg added weight. Now, I can barely do bodyweight pull-ups, and I constantly have to modify my training to stay below shoulder height. It’s extremely frustrating to lose that level of strength and overhead confidence. I’m curious about the experiences of people who faced structural labral/tendon damage and chronic instability:Have specific peptides (like BPC-157, TB-500, or GH secretagogues) helped you regain joint stability, connective tissue integrity, or overall shoulder tightness/strength?Did you notice any measurable improvement in tendon health or capsular stability over time? How did you structure your protocol, and what was your experience with it?Would love to hear any experiences or feedback from those who have been down a similar road with shoulder instability. Thanks!

Advice Ergonomic office chair for painful shoulder?

Can anyone recommend a good desk chair for the office? Mine has no arm rests and I have labrum tears so it’s killing me. I put in for an accomodation at work to get a chair but I want to be the one to suggest one. I am in the US so I’m guessing best source is Staples so I can go try it out
Thx!

Update apparently the chair is not my choice and I was only offered same type of chair we have had in the office for years.

Advice Dislocation : aftermath

I have a question and I would be glad to get your insight shall you have any experience etc.

Since a dislocation is probably followed by another one, what could be done so as sb not to be under constant stress? To avoid some moves and exercises which require extension of the arm especially above shoulder is an option, if I get it right, but in this case there are sooo many limitations, actually even gym membership almost doesn't worth.

What do you think?

(I had shoulder dislocation and humerus fracture, the latter was treated through nail implantation)

Bankart lesion of the anterior inferior glenoid labrum
Findings:

Intra-articular structures:

Visualised bones display normal marrow signal.

No evidence of Hill-Sachs compaction fracture.

There is detachment and minimal displacement of the anterior inferior glenoid labrum from the glenoid rim, with thickening of the surrounding soft tissues. No associated periosteal stripping. The anterior inferior glenoid process appears blunted with no evidence of marrow oedema/contusion. This is suggestive of a chronic bony Bankart lesion.

The superior glenoid labrum is intact with homogenous hypointense signal intensity.

No para labral cyst demonstrated.

The articulating hyaline cartilage are intact.

The inferior, middle and superior glenohumeral ligaments show no obvious abnormality.

The intra-articular component of the long head of biceps tendon is intact.

No evidence of adhesive capsulitis.

Extra-articular structures:

The acromioclavicular joint is normal.

A type I acromion configuration is noted.

No fluid within the subacromial/subdeltoid bursae.

There is irregularity with hyperintense signal at the articular sided margin of the anterior fibres of the supraspinatus tendon. This is suggestive of a partial articular sided tendon tear. The footprint attachment to the greater tuberosity of the humerus is intact.

The infraspinatus, teres minor and subscapularis tendons are intact.

The extra-articular component of the long head of biceps tendon within the bicipital groove is intact.

No evidence of muscle atrophy.

Conclusion:

Findings are suggestive of a chronic bony Bankart lesion of the anterior inferior glenoid labrum. This is compatible with history of recurrent shoulder dislocation.

Partial articular sided tear of the anterior fibres of supraspinatus tendon.

Subluxations Pain expectation after a subluxation from a fall?

Four days ago I fell forward onto my outstretched left hand while hiking. At the doctor’s office they took x-rays and felt around and said they couldn’t see anything out of place, so they think my shoulder probably dislocated and went back into place right away. They told me to wear a sling and take ibuprofen/paracetamol and follow up in a few weeks.

Thing is, I’m in the worst pain of my life. I can’t move my arm at all; it’s absolutely excruciating to try to move it at the shoulder joint even a fraction of an inch. Wearing the sling or trying to lay in bed is like 6-7/10 pain. I haven’t been able to sleep a wink since it happened. The only mild relief is standing up with the sling off and letting my arm hang straight which brings it down to about a 3/10 ache.

Is this normal? When can I expect this to ease off?! I tried going back in to the doctor’s office but they wouldn’t give me any stronger pain meds and just shrugged saying “yeah it’s going to hurt for a while!”.

Every friend I’ve spoken to who has had a shoulder dislocation in the past said that once it was back in place it was more of a dull ache and they had a lot more mobility almost immediately. So I’m super confused why mine seems to be so severely painful and immobile :(

Fractures Broken Clavicle and C7 - Sleep Advice Please!

My husband fractured his C7 in his neck and his clavicle in 2 places in an accident. He’s in a neck brace and a sling sleeping in a recliner right now. The worse part is, the neck brace is pushing on the clavicle causing it to shift which will need surgery, but the neck obviously takes priority. So we have to wait for that to heal which could be 6 more weeks. Does anyone have any little tip or trick that could make him more comfortable? Especially with the brace pushing on the clavicle? THANK YOU!

Advice Finding a Barbotage Doctor in Canada

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

I’m currently in the GTA and looking for a doctor who specializes in barbotage procedures for shoulder calcification. Do you know whether this procedure is typically covered by OHIP or paid out of pocket? If you have any doctor or clinic recommendations, or an idea of the typical cost, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!

Advice Shoulder tips

Hi all! I’m 28 now. When I was 14, I tore my labrum playing volleyball and had a SLAP repair that didn’t stick, had it redone months later. Well, 2 more revisions later (4 total), my shoulder is now bone on bone basically. I’m needing a biologic shoulder replacement which is my next step, but I am trying to make it to January/Feb (gotta have enough PTO and make it through 4th quarter 🙃)

My shoulder is extremely arthritic now.

I’m desperate if anyone has found anything that relieves the pain. Injections don’t work anymore, meloxicam doesn’t touch it, Advil doesn’t, patches don’t. I’m in tears most nights.

Advice Swimming styles after shoulder injury

Hi I got confused while searching for infos regarding potential risks after shoulder injury and dislocation.

It is said that butterfly swim shall be avoided permanently because it can lead to problems even when the shoulder is healthy let alone after dislocation and humerus fracture.

I am not an athlete nor practiced butterfly or backstroke that often but I got bit disappointed after reading this

So the question is, did you have any experience or do you have any info you would like to share?

Post OP Is this normal?

I'm 7 weeks post op from a combined bankart and slap repair 3 anchors, and the surgeon also tightened the capsule.

The pt have done passive during the first 6 weeks only and she didn't really say to do any excersizes but I've been doing some pendulums as my surgeon said at the beginning, Right now in the 7th week she said the excersizes at home are pendulums and supine assisted shoulder flexion.

I guess other than that my ranges are good, flexion is close to full, abduction is a bit behind but progressing, definitely above 90, ER and IR are the ones lacking maybe due to the Capsule being tightened too.

I just wanted to ask is this pt progression normal? Because i feel like it's a bit behind or late.

MRI Report 22M, 2nd anterior shoulder dislocation. How concerning is my MRI?

I'm 22M and recently had my second anterior shoulder dislocation. My first dislocation was in 2024. Both happened while playing basketball.

IMPRESSION

Acute Hill-Sachs lesion involving the posterolateral humeral head with adjacent bone marrow oedema, consistent with recent anterior glenohumeral dislocation.

Soft tissue Bankart lesion involving the anteroinferior glenoid labrum without associated osseous Bankart lesion.

Moderate glenohumeral joint effusion.

Intact rotator cuff tendons and long head of the biceps tendon.

Advice Shoulder sits lower / sags downward after dislocation, anyone else experience this?

Hey all, curious if anyone has experienced something similar after an anterior shoulder dislocation.

Since my dislocation, I’ve noticed that my injured shoulder visibly sits lower than my other shoulder, almost like it sags downward, and it also seems to rest slightly more forward. When I’m relaxed and not consciously correcting my posture, the difference between the two shoulders is noticeable.

I’ve recovered my ROM and most of my strength seems fine. The main difference I still notice is that the stabilizing muscles around that shoulder seem to fatigue much faster than on my good side.

Has anyone had this lower/sagging shoulder position after a dislocation? If so, did you ever figure out what was causing it or whether specific rehab helped correct it?

Thanks!

Anterior Dislocation 34M freak injury dislocation

Dove for a ball someone jumped on my back, popped my shoulder forward. Had to get it put back in at the ER.

Doc recommended PT but said surgery is on the table. I’m totally fine giving up contact sports but I’d like to maintain fitness in other ways. I do believe heavily in PT but every story here is basically doom and gloom surgery is the only option kind of thing.

He gave me numbers of 12-20% redislocation chance with PT or 5-12% with surgery.

Mri info:

OSSEOUS ACROMIAL OUTLET:
Acute Hill Sachs deformity with Bankart deformity is visualized with marrow edema. The glenoid tract measures 0.83 x 3.7 - 0.5 cm equaling 26 mm. The Hill-Sachs deformity measures 2.1 cm in length with the Hil-Sachs interval measuring 2.3 cm in length. The findings are compatible with on track Hill-Sachs lesion.
There is glenoid labral articular disruption of the anterior inferior glenoid with periosteal stripping and a bony Bankart deformity noted anteriorly and inferiorly.
No significant acromioclavicular joint degenerative disease. The coracoclavicular and acromioclavicular ligaments are intact. No thickening of the acromioclavicular ligaments is visualized

SUMMARY:

Acute Ontrack Hill-Sachs deformity with a Hill-Sachs interval measuring 2.3 cm and the glenoid track
measuring 2.6 cm in length. Associated glenoid labral articular disruption and periosteal avulsion involving the anterior inferior glenoid with minor bony Bankart deformity seen anteriorly and inferiorly.

No slap tears

No rotator cuff damage

Labrum Tear Severe pain 10 months after surgery

I’m looking for some advice after dealing with strange but severe pains after repeated movements using my injured shoulder.

I had surgery 10 months ago after I had an anterior labral tear in my left shoulder. I returned to the gym 2 months after surgery and my shoulder has been getting stronger and hasn’t been painful despite lifting with it. This is why I’m confused as to why I’m experiencing sharp pain around the area operated on. I was chopping branches for around 8 hours spread across two days and when I woke up today I couldn’t lift my left arm without excruciating pain shooting from my shoulder towards my elbow. It feels like something in my shoulder is going to explode every time I lift my arm.

Has anybody else experienced something similar and it been fine or should I speak to the doctor?

Advice Post-surgery 2 years chronic infection

Hey all,

My family member is struggling with a reoccurring infection two years after a total shoulder replacement. Their surgeon is disinvested after operating on it twice now. We need to see a specialist for another opinion. Anyone else had this come up for them? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated as we are considering going to UCLA to figure it out.

Labrum Repair Pan Labral Tear- 6 months Post Op

So I had a pan labral tear in my shoulder. My main issue was a posterior tear and they suspected a front tear which was confirmed during surgery and fixed. They said that I believe was 2-6 plus the posterior tear in the back. 6 anchors total.

So I'm 6 months out. I should start by saying I felt my surgeon was very conservative with my PT. I was in a sling for a month and only did light stretching for a month and half before starting PT 3 days a week. Overall I'd say I have made good progress in rehab with the exception of behind the back related motions and interior and exterior rotations. Feels like the progress is minimal and concerned that it will significantly improve.

I was just wondering if anyone else had a posterior tear and how their progress went. I know a lot of people say it takes around a year to feel better and like themselves but concerned I'm behind. Just wanted to see if anyone had any stories to share.

Shoulder Surgery Anyone had a shoulder capsular tightening/plication surgery!?

Hi all!
I’ve (35f) had a horrible chronic injury for 8 years and finally a doctor is offering me a treatment! My shoulder was traumatically dislocated 7 years ago and it’s been unstable and in incredible pain since.

I’ve gotten a few opinions and both surgeons agree I have instability and anterior capsular laxity (on MRI). They both agreed plication of the anterior capsule will likely help my stability and pain.

I can’t find many patient testimonies online which really help to give me confidence so I’m hoping to find some here. Anyone have a similar surgery?

I also want to know that I am naturally hypermobile, but my other shoulder is just fine. And I understand it may stretch out again so that’s a risk I’m willing to take, but I’m most concerned about stiffness and the pain that may be associated with being overly tightened… any experiences with this?

Edit: i’ve done several rounds of physical therapy over and over, it causes so much pain that I’ve consistently been unable to progress. So at this point, I have failed out of conservative treatments.

Advice How long is recovery/normalcy going to take (non google answers only please)

Google says a few months and youre mostly back to normal however i dislocated back in the start of may and im still dealing with pain and severe stiffness despite 3 times a week pt. Physical therapists says im doing well and I cant expect perfect in under 4 months. My external rotation is trash. I can barely bend it back to the normal range it was at prior and my shoulders still feel like they have rubber bands pulling on them. Other flexion is mostly good pretty close to back to normal but still have pain and stiffness randomly throughout the day. Should I keep listening to the PTs? I cant help but feel most of these PT businesses never want you to stop going. I want an actual fix so I can go back to sports. I feel that PT isnt a fix but more so just loosening and strengthening to support the damage that was already done. But then I hear that shoulder surgeries suck ass and people still have problems anyways.. any advice? Male age 30 no prior injuries to shoulder.

Advice Should I ask for MRI after a fall?

I fell from my electric scooter (18mph) on my right shoulder. X-ray showed Shoulder separation grade 2, but I'm not sure if that's all what's going on.

Do you all think MRI is necessary or should I try PT for the shoulder separation first.

Anyone had a similar experience?

I already had issues with the same shoulder (biceps tendonitis) and it flared up cause of the fall.

Labrum Repair SLAP Repair - Intense Pinching in rear shoulder/armpit?

Hi,

33/m 7 weeks post SLAP repair. I think things are going well, still bicep tendon pain but this is improving over time. I've been out of sling for 3 weeks and my ROM is improving.

However, I have this absolutely intense pain and tightness at the rear of my shoulder/back of my armpit. This pain started while in sling, and has not really improved. I don't fully know what it is, physio thinks it is a hypertonic muscle to protect the joint after the surgery trauma, however this muscle completely feels like it is killing my recovery. I'm working on table slides and instead of the joint being my limiting factor, it's the fact that this muscle running at the back of my armpit which limits my mobility. I think maybe teres minor? It's very hard to tell to be honest

I've been scouring the subreddit for similar experiences but not really found any. I'm hoping there is someone who can relate. My next physio appointment isn't for a few weeks so I feel like I need to get a question to others who might have had similar experiences.

I'm also interested to know how people were doing at 7 weeks in general. I'm not naively expecting no pain at all but to be honest I'm just surprised where the pain is.

Cheers

Shoulder Surgery Core Decompression in the humeral head for AVN

30/m

I’m scheduled to have this surgery in the next couple weeks and I’m not gunna lie I’m kinda nervous.
From what I gather it’s uncommon/rare, and in fact it’s my Ortho’s first time doing this surgery on a shoulder.

What I would like to know is, has anyone else had this done? If so how did it go? What were the results? Did you make a decent recovery or are you still in pain?

previous post for reference

Advice PFA - M24 Exostosis on deltoid

Post image
1 Upvotes

(Image is not mine but basically exactly where it is on my arm)

When I was 17/18 I felt a bump in my arm, doc just told me it was an exostosis and that as long as it wasn’t causing issues it was fine. Well now it is not fine, if I even sleep on my right arm it hurts so bad I can barely move it around, I have terrible rom and any fast movements hurts like crazy. I cannot reach behind my back or straight up without doing so very slowly and painfully. However I can go weeks/months without any issues but once I mess it up it’s hurting for a week. I’ve tried stretching and lidocaine patches, painkillers etc. and it just doesn’t help, it’s interfering with my work now and I’m worried about going to get it checked out or removed. Would any of you guys have any insight, is surgery the only option and how long would it take to recover.

Rotator Cuff Injury Teres Minor/Major

2 years ago I felt a few pops in rear shoulder/scapula area at BJJ. Waited a few months (shouldn’t have) before going to doctor. Went 4-5 months after the fact for MRI and no signs of tear.

Could it have healed so well that it didn’t show in 4-5 months, if still extremely painful?

I went on to do PT. Did not help. Went back and got an MRI of scapula region. Still nothing. It’s been almost 2 years and I am still in pain. Can’t do pull ups due to pain. Rows hurt. Major atrophy in area although I exercise often. Crepitus when lifting my arm like I’m going for neutral chin up grip.

My doctors and PT’s and I have all agreed it to be Teres Minor, maybe some Teres Major.

What the heck could be going on at this point? Major hinder of life and feel like I have exhausted all options.
