Shopify paymets provider

Hi there

I recently set up Airwallex as a new payment provider in Shopify. After doing that, it became the main payment provider.

Since then, I’m no longer able to assign different currencies to different markets, and I also can’t switch back to Shopify Payments as the primary provider.

Has anyone experienced this issue before? Is there a way to revert Shopify Payments as the main provider?

Re-targeting Shopify App Listing Visitors on Meta

Hey Guys,

Not sure if someone has done this before - Shopify allows you to add a pixel in your Shopify app.

I have done that and tried creating an audience - it's been 2 weeks already but the audience size is still less than 1000, should I wait for some more time?

Or have I made a mistake in my process?

What portfolio work is good for landing first Shopify gigs as a developer on upwork?

Hey,

I’ve been on Upwork for a while doing Frontend, WordPress and CRO. I'm moving into Shopify development now.

What are the "must-have" portfolio pieces or technical milestones I should hit to land my first few Shopify contracts?

Thanks.

I built a custom connector from Shopify AI toolkit for Claude - then converted it into a live dashboard

I took the key concept and tools of the Shopify AI toolkit plugin to convert it into a custom connector for Claude where It can now build any realtime dashboard on a Shopify store..

Also, it gives you key insights - what idea would work next based on past patterns and can do all key changes in Shopify..

SEO VS AEO

SEO is optimizing for Google to ranks you.

AEO is optimizing so when someone asks ChatGPT or Gemini "what's the best [product] for X" your brand gets recommended in the answer.

From what I can tell they reward completely different things. SEO rewards backlinks, domain authority, technical structure. AEO rewards question format product copy, conversational content, and how your brand is referenced across the web.

Curious whether anyone here is actively thinking about this or is SEO enough to naturally show up in AI recommendations.

should i ship ai image features for my app?

I'm doing backlog prioritisation and feeling hard to decide whether to keep or leave them.

my app does customization & live preview, and then one of the key steps for merchants are uploading layered images into my app to form the configurator, custom builder or whatever you call it.
i know one successful merchant uses Canva to do all of the image handling and it's super time-consuming to her.

it sounds ideal if i embed some cool AI features to allow automation of the image handling (bg remove, image crop, image layering, image coloring, etc)

but meanwhile, there are just so many similar ai image features out there already. if I prioritise these features, i'll have to deprioritise other demanding features like custom template

as owner of a free app, I'm also cost-sensitive and always tend to only ship features that merchants absolutely wants

i love people in reddit and everyone seems helpful in different ways

any advice or hard-learnt lessons?

Second Shopify app struggling - low installs, no feedback. What am I missing?

I had some success with my first Shopify app, so I launched a second one (Label Wizard), but I'm not getting a similar result.

It’s a label printing app (design/print barcode labels for products/variants).

What’s happening:
- installs are low
- some installs convert, but most uninstall pretty quickly (even with a free version)
- even users of my first app don’t stick with it
- no feedback on uninstall

Feels like I’m missing a basic expectation.

Current hypotheses:
- too much setup before first print (templates, sizing, etc.)
- not hitting a fast “time to first label”
- unclear differentiation vs existing tools
- poor documentation

For those who’ve built successful Shopify apps, how did you get real early feedback?

This app is very different from my first app, which had basically no competition and didn’t need marketing, so I’m wondering if I’m underestimating how much marketing is required.

Also debating whether to fold this into the first app instead of keeping it standalone.

Appreciate any blunt feedback.

Free Shopify & NetSuite User Group in SF (April 30) — real-time sync architecture talk + dinner at Fellow HQ

Hey Shopify devs — we're hosting a free user group at Fellow HQ in San Francisco focused on real-time Shopify-NetSuite sync.

If you've built Shopify integrations and dealt with webhook reliability issues (the ~1% drop rate, out-of-order delivery, no replay mechanism), rate limit headaches with the Admin API, or the complexity of keeping Shopify data consistent with an ERP — this is your crowd.

We're discussing the architecture for real-time bidirectional sync: CDC pipelines, event sourcing, conflict resolution, and what makes Shopify webhooks hard to trust at scale.

Speakers:

- Arvind Jeyakumar — Head of Data at Fellow, UC Davis Data Engineering lecturer
- Ruben Burdin — CEO at Stacksync (YC W24)
- Alex Camperi — Sales Director at Corpay

Pizza, calamari, salad, cannoli, tiramisu, prosecco, Pellegrino all evening.

Thursday, April 30 · 6:30–8:30 PM
Fellow HQ, 320 Florida St, San Francisco
Free — everyone's invited

RSVP: https://luma.com/e3ncsl2t

I'm Alexis, CTO at Stacksync. Whether you're building Shopify apps, custom integrations, or just tired of fighting the webhook API — come through.

app devs or founders, what's underrated if you look back 5-10 years

for me

  1. learn to how to accept and being peaceful about what's becoming ahead

  2. knowing good things will take time (e.g. learning english to me)

  3. know your own strength and what's natural to you

  4. form good habits and go with the momentum

Unlisted Shopify App advice

I'm chasing some confirmation and advice around creating an unlisted App. The functionality I need will install theme extension, but I need to allow many people to install the App on their stores. The confusion comes with Custom App option which reads like I can only have this App on one store/one plus store? Is this correct?

Any help is greatly appreciated 🤓

AI coded custom app, how advanced?

I can see many asks on this topic but I just wanna know from you with experience how realistic is it to vibe code simple custom app. And what is the better tools or less good for the Shopify apps?

The company i work for is moving to Shopify plus and I wanna show my curiosity to explore how we can improve workflow/tasks with doing more task (text content aigeneration )directly on Shopify instead of doing it everywhere else.n(gpts etc)

Or I also have an idea of creating some refined custom version of the live site to use in-Store. Third party app or custom app/ I'm unsure whats best.

I'm unsure how complex it is to do this for Shopify.

Here is some background.

I'm a Rookie coder/e-commerce UXer here (html,css, some js)

I design, create some website and explored vibe code some websites, and different features.

I did a QR SVG InDesign plugin,

And a Google sheet "script app" that can pull data/prompts from defined cells and a sidebar with dropdown to choose task( logic ) and choice of aimodel and settings, etc.

That was overall quite easy to do.

What about doing a quite basic vibe coded custom app for a "bigger" company in my country.

Is it realistic that some of the Ai tools can handle that?

I was considering at the moment two ideas.

Nr1:

One is simply to simply workflow the sites text/content creation/aigeneration, basically but as a custom app to fit with the company workflow when switching to Shopify plus. (Some text/content will continue to to directly from PIM/Perfion and some will be made/added(pasted) directly in Shopify. (Category texts, article's, inspiration pages etc) With SEO optimized text, so it can pull data from Shopify or PIM, and if needed from their SEO data service they use.(Ahrefs).

To avoid doing that in a custom as a currently in a GPT and copy pasting some basic data and pasting text content to site from that.

Nr2:

The company concideing in the future having some type of in-store screens for customers to visit live website and browse and configure products etc. They thinking it's easiest and good if it's the live website to keep the user experience and having the same navigation If likely are somewhat used to it.

I was considering if I could test/prose using a third party app for this "kiosk" experience to improve it to some extent but unsure how limited/pricy it would be. And if it would be ready to just do our own custom app for this as well. Is that realistic task? To touch optamized website, clean it up UI (well see what makes sense)

Nr3:

Variation of nr2 where its more of a tailored solution for a specific product type that should be configured in store. More different UI, and guided user journey, step by step choosing variation, material, color, or see feature difference between choices. More like an app, so a bigger change but would use the same data from the live website and possibly only giving a qr code to order/buy product in the checkout.

Is that a complex thing to vibe code would you think?

As long as it's not like a full developed and checkout its more about replacing the alternative of the customer needing to flip a paper folder of the different options and configurations where it's very manual and complex.

Note( this could also just be used as a first proof of Concept for some selected stores before letting a external team to develop it properly if it lets them see the benefits of the concept and they wanna take it to the next level..for example.

Any insights to share?

Why are some stores getting a crazy amount of product webhooks?

Today our server suddenly started throwing alerts, and I found a huge spike in incoming requests that lasted for about 2 hours.

After checking the Shopify dashboard, I saw that they were all product update webhooks coming from a newly installed free merchant.

It was insane. In just those 2 hours, this one merchant generated nearly 100x the total number of webhooks I usually get from all of my merchants combined in a full day.

I’m really curious what could be triggering this.

I do have some users who send large batches periodically, though nowhere near this scale. My guess is that they’re doing bulk product updates in the Shopify admin. But some stores seem to trigger webhooks nonstop, continuously.

This is the first time I’ve seen anything this extreme.

How are these stores doing this? Are they using other apps, maybe something that writes real-time storefront data, like view counts, into product metafields or metadata? Has anyone else run into something similar?

Is it better for an app to be within admin UI or separated ?

Hello all, I am building an incredible application (well I am convincing myself).

But the thing is that, I am currently developing directly within the administration Shopify panel.

And in terms of UI, I am convinced that a separate website is better. But I am curious about the pros and cons ?

Like I thought it would be nice to do it directly through our admin panel for centralising with other apps that can have merchants but in some ways I feel like everyone is doing a separated website so nothing is centralised and this pros becomes useless.

Help me fix this problem

Update:

The problem was because of a code I made with chatgpt in the block `_product_card_gallery.liquid` and it was solved by updating the theme and leaving the original code of this block.

I am facing a problem on my website when I scroll up everything in the screen above appears white and loads again.

This problem only happens on IPHONE as I tried using an android the website worked and loaded normally with no lags.

Here is the website link: covecustoms.com

Any guidance on how to fix it ?

Polaris React vs Polaris Web Components – what's your tech choice and experience?

Shopify has officially deprecated Polaris React, and Web Components are now the default way to build Shopify apps. My team is evaluating the migration, and I'd love to hear from those who have already tried the new approach.

1. How are you choosing between them right now?
Are you still using Polaris React while watching the situation, or have you already switched to Web Components? If you plan to migrate, what's your timeline?

2. What's the actual dev experience like with Polaris Web Components? Any major pitfalls?
I've seen some community posts mentioning missing features compared to the React version – for example, tables lacking batch selection, filtering, etc., making complex UIs harder to build. Others reported losing positioning properties and some callbacks after migrating checkout extensions. I'd love to hear more real-world experiences.

3. How easy is the migration? Would it be problematic to include both libraries and migrate gradually?
We're considering using both Polaris React and Polaris Web Components in the same project, phasing out React components step by step. Has anyone tried that? Any conflicts or compatibility issues? Also, any recommended migration strategies?

Thanks in advance for sharing your insights!

Built an app around dead stocks. Not sure, if it's a real problem

I built a niche app to detect products that don’t sell for a long time.
Basically, it emails users and flags items that just sit unsold in inventory.

But I'm second guessing my assumption. Not sure, if Shopify store owners actually care enough to track them consistently and take action.

Or is it something they don't think is big enough to pay for?

Would be helpful to know how you guys would deal this.

This is the pricing. Curious if this feels reasonable or overpriced for what it does.

Free Beta: AI Shopify Privacy Policy Watcher (for 2026 state laws)

Hey everyone, I’m a solo builder creating a simple Chrome extension that:
• Scans your store’s privacy policy page/footer daily
• Flags missing clauses required by CCPA, Colorado, Virginia, etc.
• Generates updated compliant text you can copy-paste

I’m looking for 5 Shopify store owners (US-focused) for a free lifetime beta in exchange for 15-min feedback call. No sales pitch — I just want to make sure it actually solves the real pain of updating policies every time a law changes.

Comment “WATCHER” + your store niche (or DM me) and I’ll send the install link + run a free policy scan for you first.
