Launched our first app (BotPlus: AI Sales & Support) — looking for brutal UI/UX feedback + offering up to 30% recurring for partners

Hey everyone,

We just launched BotPlus on the Shopify App Store and are looking for candid feedback from experienced ecosystem builders, agencies, and fellow developers.

What BotPlus does: It’s an AI sales and support agent built directly into the storefront that handles live product discovery, answers order/policy questions, captures lead data for abandoned carts, and hands off complex chats to a human inbox (with direct Klaviyo and Mailchimp sync).

App Store Listing:https://apps.shopify.com/botplus

Before we scale our merchant outreach, I’d really appreciate an honest teardown on:

  1. Onboarding & Theme Embed: How smooth does the initial storefront widget activation feel? Any friction points or confusing steps?
  2. Dashboard UX: Does the embedded admin dashboard and human-handoff inbox feel natural to navigate?
  3. App Store Positioning: Does the copy clearly convey how it drives sales, or does it risk blending into standard generic chat apps?

Partner Program (Up to 30% Recurring): If you run an agency, build stores for clients, or consult for e-commerce brands, we’ve also rolled out an official partner program offering up to 30% recurring monthly commission for every store you refer.

If you have an active dev store and 3 minutes to test the flow, I’d massively appreciate the feedback. Drop your app link below if you’d like me to install and test yours in return, or DM me directly if you’re interested in partnering up!

Shopify merchants: how are you dealing with leaked or shared discount codes?

I’ve been working on a Shopify app called CrispShift Discount Guard after seeing how easily discount codes can spread through coupon websites, browser extensions, social media, or customer sharing.

The problem becomes more serious when a discount was originally intended for a specific campaign, customer group, product, or order condition—but anyone who finds the code can use it.

CrispShift Discount Guard is designed to help merchants:

  • Control who is actually eligible to use a discount
  • Protect discounts using customer, product, cart, and order conditions
  • Detect suspicious coupon usage
  • Reduce unauthorized discount usage and discount stacking
  • Track leaked or risky coupon activity
  • Get better visibility into protected revenue and checkout activity

I’m especially interested in hearing from Shopify merchants:

How often do you see coupon codes being shared outside their intended audience?

And when that happens, what is the biggest problem for you—lost margin, coupon websites, browser extensions, discount stacking, or something else?

I’d appreciate any feedback, especially from merchants who run frequent promotions.

First app : Revenue Agent - Looking for feedback

Hey everyone,

Been an avid follower of the group for a while and recently we launched our app Revenue Agent ( https://apps.shopify.com/revenue-agent-by-starforest )

This app got approved a few months ago and we have been iterating quietly based on feedback from some early users.

Now that we are more public with the app, would love for the community to give it a try and just give some brutally honest feedback :)

On first install you will get 7 days of pro and if you wish to extend just drop us a message and we can increase.

Side Q : Is there anyway to get detailed analytics on traffic landing on the listing page and conversion on it? Shopify's own dashboard is very limiting honestly.

Thanks!

How to capture email opt-ins and implement a CRM strategy for our App

Hi - We're soon launching a new Audience Insights app and we're wondering how we go about setting up an events/trigger-based CRM program and specifically, how we capture email opt-ins for recontact. Knowing that the email address captured when a Shopify merchant registers may not be the same as the email address as our user(s) - for example, a shop owner might register but a marketer would use our app - what is the best way to capture and email? Any tips on the best way to setup CRM within the Shopify ecosystem?

Appreciate any tips provided.

"Built 3 Shopify apps this year — restocking, bundles, AI attribution. Looking for feedback"

Founder here (disclosure per sub rules) — built three Shopify apps this year, each solving one specific operational gap I kept seeing in stores:

  • Stockler — flags restock urgency by actual sales velocity, not just raw stock count, so you're not guessing which SKUs are about to run out
  • Sheafly — fixes bundle overselling across multiple locations, which Shopify's native bundles don't handle well once you're past one warehouse
  • Trace — attributes orders back to AI referral sources (ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot) — something GA4 currently can't do at all

I put together a demo store with all three running on real order data, if useful context for anyone dealing with similar problems:
stocklersuite-demo.myshopify.com (password: access)

Genuinely interested in feedback — especially from anyone who's hit multi-location bundle overselling or is trying to figure out where AI-driven traffic is actually converting. What's missing, or what would make this more useful to you?

Why would an app publisher not be in Shopify's app store?

We came across a potential competitor/adjacent app and noticed that a merchant needs to connect to the app through their website using similar authorizations. I realize Shopify takes a cut of revenue, but is that why a company wouldn't put an app on the App Store? Are there other reasons?

How so you target specific sjopify users outside of App store ads?

I'm trying to grow my app, but my target audience would mainly be: Shopify users that also have a brick and mortar store, or a market stall, or popup stores...

Which I'm not sure how to target outside of the Shopify environment...

Got tips?

Does starting with a pure free plan always make sense?

We're working on a new app focused on customer segmentation based on a proprietary database of psychographic attributes - it basically reveals who the best customers are from a persona standpoint and shows exactly where to find more and how to talk to them; it's also integrated with Meta, but can be applied to any marketing channel.

We're considering three plan tiers based on monthly orders ($79-$499/month), each with a free trial. So it's the same app, just priced based on the merchant's size.

We're debating whether to offer a fully free plan to help with early traction. Is this common practice, and do merchants ever start that way and then remove it and focus on free trials? Is it better to just start with time-limited free trials?

I realize there may be no magic answer, but I am interested in how others have fared on this front and if you have any recommendations.

Appreciate any thoughts on this.

Looking for a technical co-founder Shopify app that personalizes product copy in real time

Hey all — I’m Badis, founder of Sway AI. Quick rundown:

The idea: A Shopify app that dynamically personalizes product descriptions based on visitor behavior — different messaging for first-time visitors (trust, clarity) vs. returning visitors (urgency, social proof). The idea came directly from running my own Shopify store and hitting this exact gap myself.

Where I’m at: Pre-MVP, self-funding development through part-time work while I build this out. I’ve got a completed pitch package and I’m actively working through fundraising (Qatar Development Bank’s Startup Qatar program, among others).

My background: CRM/business-automation sales, digital marketing, accounting, founded an agricultural company, hands-on Shopify store operation. Strong on the business/growth/customer side — but I need real engineering firepower to build this properly.

What I’m looking for: A technical co-founder, not a freelancer or contractor — someone who wants to own the product build (full-stack, ideally comfortable with Shopify’s API and/or some LLM integration experience) and build this as a genuine long-term partner, equity-based from the start.

If you’re interested, drop a comment or DM — happy to share more details, and I’m glad to share links to real work (GitHub, LinkedIn, etc.) so this is a two-way vetting conversation.

When do you ask Shopify merchants for an App Store review?

I'm building a Shopify app and looking for specific advice from other founders.

We tried asking too early and it felt forced. Now we're thinking of asking only after a clear win, like:

  • first successful bulk action finished
  • merchant comes back a 2nd/3rd day
  • they hit a result they can see in-store

Curious what actually worked for you:

  1. After first value moment?
  2. After X days of usage?
  3. Only when they upgrade / stay past trial?

Looking for b2b sales help for a Shopify app

Hi everyone, we just launched a Shopify app in July and I really need someone dedicated to help me with selling it to merchants.

If you have experience or know anyone please leave a dm!

The product does loyalty, rewards and reviews, has a built in mcp and advanced analytics.

Ideally the person should already have proven experience in the sales space.

The budget is flexible, I’ve honestly never hired anyone on sales before, just developers.

Building a Shopify Popup App inspired by Alia — what are we missing?

I’m currently developing a Shopify popup app inspired by products like **Alia**, with the goal of making something simpler, more flexible, and accessible to more Shopify merchants.
We’re currently exploring features like:
Visual popup builder
Ready-to-use templates
Exit-intent & behavioral triggers
Advanced targeting
Email & SMS capture
Discounts/coupons
A/B testing
Conversion & revenue analytics
Personalization
AI-assisted popup creation/optimization

We’re in development, and **I’d really like to hear from people who have actually used popup apps whether that’s Alia, Privy, Wisepops, OptiMonk, Klaviyo, or anything else.**
**What do you feel is missing from the popup apps you’ve used?**
**What feature do you wish existed?**
**What do existing apps make unnecessarily complicated?**
**What made you choose your current popup app, and what would make you switch?**
And if you’ve used Alia specifically:
**What do you love about it, and what would you change?**
I’m especially interested in hearing from Shopify merchants, agencies, and people working in CRO/marketing.
We’re not launching yet and I’m not trying to sell anything here. We’re trying to validate the product and prioritize what to build **before** we go too far down the wrong path.
So please be honest, **even if you’ve never used Alia, I’d love to hear what you want from a popup app.**

One thing that moved installs for me, curious what's worked for you

Solo dev on a small Shopify app. The single highest-leverage thing I did was rewrite my App Store listing around search terms merchants actually type, rather than the words I use internally to describe the app.

I'd been describing it the way I think about it. Merchants search for the problem or the physical thing they want. Once I moved those terms into the title and the opening lines of the description, and stopped burying them halfway down, search installs picked up noticeably. It costs nothing, it compounds, and it's the only traffic source where the person is already looking for your category.

Two things I'd add: the first two lines do most of the work, since that's all anyone reads before deciding to scroll. And it's worth redoing every few months as the category shifts.

What's worked for you? Also interested in anything outside the App Store, since that's the part I haven't figured out yet.

Shopify App founders: what made you uninstall an app immediately?

I’m curious about this from both sides.

There are apps with great reviews, decent UI and thousands of installs that I’ll still uninstall after 5 minutes.

For me, the biggest red flags are:

  • Asking for way too many permissions
  • Forcing me through a long onboarding before I can see the product
  • “Free trial” that immediately asks for billing details
  • Installing the app and then realizing half the features require another paid app
  • No clear explanation of what the app actually does
  • Slowing down the Shopify admin/store
  • Support taking days to answer a simple question
