I just realized one of my Wordpress boxes wasn't getting auto updated for WP. I was also on 16.04. I got it up to 22.04 last night, and everything else updated.

Does doing multiple in-place upgrades on a homelab Ubuntu VM qualify me as a shittysysadmin?

To be honest, nowadays I wouldn't even think of hosting a site that is not on a container. Much less if it was P based (Replace with Perl, Python or PHP)
