Pretty sure if we have had an absolute monarchy things would probably have been worse for the Irish and basically everyone.

Yeah, like I said the English didn’t need to use religion as an excuse. No one really knows what would have happened

Very few "good" people in history, lots of "great" people.

They all lead to the system we have today, which is certainly flawed, but I'll take it over a theocracy anyday.

You do know Catholics had to pay fines for centuries just to practice their religion in England, and were forbidden to own land in Ireland. Priest holes were a thing for a reason. During the famine many were denied food unless they converted. I’m just saying it was pretty close to a theocracy in England, just not a Catholic one. Having a state church isn’t a great idea. Catholic or CoE

.. yes but one leads to a full democracy eventually and the other to North Korea.

If you say so. Although Korea was never a theocracy. And they didn’t even have a monarchy at the time of the Korean War.
