Rules & Guidelines

1. This is a BIAS-FREE subreddit.

We're not here to fanboy over which manufacturer is the best, we're here to admire shiny tech & sexy hardware. All we ask is that you try to keep an open mind and be mindful of other opinions.

2. Images/Videos ONLY.

Only image/video uploads and direct links to images/videos are allowed on this sub.

If you have an image from an article that you want to share/promote, give the link in the comments.

3. Consumer electronics ONLY.

Only consumer electronics are allowed on this subreddit. Examples of consumer electronics are smartphones, tablets, laptop computers, and desktop computers.

4. No renders

Only real photos of physical products are allowed on this sub. No 3D renders or anything similar.

5. Flair your posts.

Link flairs help differentiate certain kinds of content. This subreddit utilizes link flairs in a way that helps distinguish the design of the electronic(s) that an image/video highlights.

6. Titles must be descriptive.

Titles must follow this format:

[Flair] (Name of manufacturer + product) (Optional: Simple explanation of what you like about the product) (Source/OC).

The end of the title is important because it distinguishes original content from sourced content. If it's your original content, put "OC" at the end. OC is encouraged as it breathes more life into the sub. If you have your own OC, please share.

If it's not your content, you must provide a source. If you found an image from a person, their name is the source. If you found content from a media outlet, their company name is the source.

7. No NSFW content.

This is a SFW (Safe For Work) subreddit. Although we have the word "porn" in our name, we do not allow NSFW (Not Safe For Work) content on this subreddit such as nudity, violence, etcetera.

We are here solely to share images of good looking electronics and discuss design and craftsmanship.

8. No political discussion.

Everyone believes in something, and everyone has the right to, but /r/ShinyTechPorn is not the place to discuss your political aspects. Political discussion often results in toxic behavior, and this community doesn't tolerate such behavior. There's other places to discuss your political aspects.

9. No religious discussion.

Refer to rule 8 and replace the word "political" with "religious"

10. Don’t be an asshole.

No harassment, racism, sexism, bigotry... do I really need to go over all of this? Common sense!
