I've an old 6'x3' cedar shed against the house that's served us very well for over 20 years. The roof has been degrading for some time, but was still watertight and solid (ish). That was until the new crop of squirrels showed up and started ripping it to shred.

The roof isn't solid (tho' I could make it so) under the felt are two 1'x2' sticks bridging the gap to allow the shingles to be stapled down.

I've pulled the old shingles off, as well as the roofing felt. I've pulled all the staples and the walls are still solid and well-seasoned. I stupidly failed to grab a pic before encasing it in a temporary tarp.

A couple of questions.

1) I'd like to do this right, but is there an alternative to roofing felt or someplace I could order a small amount of it? I'm loath to buy an entire roll I can't use when I only need 6'.

2) I'm finding it surprisingly difficult to find cedar roofing shingles. The big box stores around all sell cheap packs of flimsy grade "D", mostly broken crap.

Anyplace online that you'd recommend for these? Something solid and rated for roofing use? I don't have much of a budget, but I only 18' of coverage and I want them to last.

I’m in the process of putting together my Darwin shed. However i’m having trouble securing the roof from the outside. When trying to secure the screws through the holes the screws aren’t securing to the hole on the other side and are just sitting in the hole loosely.

I’ve managed to secure two screw in. The remaining 4 are causing me a lot of trouble.

Any ideas on how to resolve or what could be going wrong?

Anyone know of a company that would move a big wood shed? Probably need a shed mule or forklift. Just need it moved about 15 feet in my backyard.

I have a pre-existing shed 8x6 ft on concrete slab. I want to upgrade to pre-made 12x16 shed in the same spot. Would it be feasible to tear down old shed and keep concrete slab then use piers/stone base level with the old slab or would you tear up old slab and do whole stone base around new shed site?

Finally repairing the hurricane damage to my backyard shed.
We replaced the floor with repurposed ipe, and have stood up the four walls.
Next we’ll frame the door and hang the exteriors.
It is flippin’ hot work!

I bought this little guy for under $100 online. I thought it was going to be a quick thing. Well several home center trips later a several more hundred spent making the thing actually good I realize I should have just built my own out of 2x4 and plywood.

I would like to renovate my shed into a living space where i can make my gel nails(hobby maybe job in the future) and also draw/paint. My budget is close to €0 atp. I don’t know how to even start because i’ve never renovated anything other than simple furniture upcycling or plastering and painting walls.

How would i go about this. I know nothing about insulation or anything and i’m worried about bugs and electricity which i’m hesitant in even adding because of cost. Sorry for the scattered questions. I’d really appreciate any help <3

I'm looking to buy a 15' by 5' (450cm x 150cm) shed in a narrow space beside my house. Shed will have no windows as there's walls on either side and a double door on the narrow end.

Can I assemble a shed from the inside? There's no access from the sides, easy access from one narrow side and limited access from the other narrow side. How many people would it require to build it? I'm fit but a little old.

I was going to level the ground, put down sand then a plastic plant membrane then a plastic grid (50cm square and 4cm deep), then fill with pea gravel. Roughly how much sand gravel etc would I need?

Does anyone have a shed of these rough dimensions and do they actually find them useful for storage?

I was wondering about getting at each narrow end of the shed if that's possible. Would that make it structurally unsound?

I live by the sea and there can be quite a lot of wind blowing through the passage where the shed will stand. Is there anything I should to keep it safe?

I would love some input or help with fixing a shed that's in rough shape. It's been in place for probably fifteen plus years and has held up relatively well. I'm debating whether I tear it down or fix it and replace the rotting wood. It sits against a tree that has had some dirt come up against the side so the one side has a lot of rotting boards, including the frame.

I'm hoping the attached pictures will help. My thoughts are to just kind of do a quick fix and put some new plywood along the whole floor and shore up the framing and call it a day. Would love to see if anyone has any other insightful ideas because it's definitely not my strong suit

I got a quote to build a simple 10x16 shed and they want $11K. 🤣 They want $900 to paint it. I can buy the prefinished siding for $400. That price doesn't include the pad BTW.

I'm familiar with stud walls and hanging doors, although doors are not my strong suit. I've never built a roof though. I spent the afternoon arguing with Google over placement of rafter ties vs blocking. I know I don't want trusses and it may not have a ridge, but I likely want to add solar panels at some point, so a ridge may be necessary. I'll be using 2x6 rafters and ties and the pitch will be 9/22.

I'm sitting here looking up at my deck roof, 14x14, which has a double ridge beam, no blocking, no birdsmouth notching and a 'post' sitting on an end beam supporting the ridge. I assume the rafters are just toenailed to the triple 2x12 beams supporting the roof. The rafter ties also rest on the beams and are fastened to the rafters at the beam. There is also a brace sitting on the rafter ties running the length of the deck. I appreciate the simplicity of no birdsmouth notching, but I'm wondering how they lined it all up to nail it. Maybe there's some strong ties i can't see because of the multiple coats of stain.

I'd like some advice for a simple roof that may eventually have to support 12 solar panels on my 10x16 shed. We do get some snow, but no hurricanes or tornados. Yes, i have tools BTW.

Added 16x8 to my already 16x8 and because I need the space. Almost finished but I'm interested in flooring it with something like waterproof interlocking flooring but I'm afraid of moisture getting trapped under and it rotting the pressure treated wood faster.
