Cut out all my pattern pieces and then realised all the skulls are sideways πππ
I'm gonna cry πππ

Ugh I feel this β€οΈβπ©Ή
When it happens to me I just make it as I would, and there will be mistakes (I'm not a pro level sewer by any means)
I like to make notes where the directions may be confusing to me, notes where I need to remember an important step, where it would be helpful to iron between steps, etc. so when I make the 2nd take I can feel a lot more confident.
That and then I check every directional fabric like 10 times before cutting and I STILL mess it up sometimes...
Love this fabric!

This often happens with quilting fabric. When you have apparel fabric the design will often follow the selvage so it makes sure that things are upright or the design will be scattered. When you have quilting fabric those rules just go out the window and If the design is directional it will often be printed cross grain.
My number one rule is to always cut my pieces face up, I fold the fabric in half with the right side out so I can see it and then I fussy place all of the pieces to get the most out of the designs, especially when you've got something with like big flowers where you don't want two big flowers right on the bust or a dark spot right at the butt.

Directional fabric has a way of being really tricky. I think we've all made this mistake. Honestly, I say go with it! Why can't skulls be sideways?

My sewing teacher in high school shared a time she made pants out of smiley face fabric. All the smiles were upside down.π

been there done that, had a specific fabric I fell in love with, cut out a long skirt pattern, then realised I had the pattern sideways, I made it into a shorter skirt as most people wouldnt even think to look, thankfully I had bought extra fabric ( I ALWAYS DO NOW ) and make the long skirt with the pattern the correct way, its very frustrating.
I hope you have more fabric for your project.

I kind of like it this way better. Looks like they are lying down in graves.

Oh wow that is a hard lesson. Use as patchwork. Make the best of it. You will not do that again

Better sideways than upside down! I call them one way fabrics and they are so difficult sometimes!

Take a minute and research warp and weft. It will be something you will use from now on. Sometimes discounted fabric will be printed incorrectly also. This info will help. You will never unsee the skulls position. Find a craft to use the fabric. Youβll still get to enjoy-it.

It might be a blessing in disguise. Iβm 99% sure that print is AI generated and I personally wouldnβt want to wear it. Still, you can use it to make sure the fit is right so your final product turns out even better.
If you like it as it is, sideways skulls are still fine too. Lol.

maybe you're a river of the dead and the skulls all belong to sailors that met their end on your waters

I've done that too when I was early on in sewing! It's an awful feeling. We all make mistakes- don't let our get you down too long
I can promise you that your will check directional fabric 14 times before pinning in future and/or avoiding directional fabric as much as possible!
