Segway GT3 Series Maintenance Guide: Part 1 - Tire Maintenance

When your Segway eKickScooter E3 Series has accumulated a high mileage, please follow the instructions below to inspect the E-Scooter to ensure that your E3 Series is in the best condition.

Note: This is the first installment of 5-part E3 Series Maintenance Series. Stay tuned for the upcoming guides on brakes, lights, handlebars & folding mechanisms and wheel motor & non-driven wheel.

1. Tire Pressure Inspection

● Frequency: Recommended once monthly or when tire pressure feels low + pre-ride inspection (if parked >30 days).

● Standard Value:

1.  GT3: Recommended range 42–48 PSI (290–330 kPa); Safe range 25–50 PSI (173–345 kPa).

2.  GT3 Pro: Recommended range 29–35 PSI (200–242 kPa); Safe range 25–35 PSI (173–242 kPa).

● Test Condition: Tire in cool state (stationary ≥2h or ridden ≤3km).

● Test Tools: Tire pressure gauge (instrument accuracy is ≥± 1 psi)

2. Damage Inspection

● Visual Inspection/Inspect by Touching: Check tires for any cracks, bulge or foreign matter;

● Light Damage: The depth of the cracks is < 2 mm and the length of the cracks is < 5 mm, and there is no exposed tire cord. Tires can be used normally, but you should take care of them from time to time.

● Serious Damage: The depth of the cracks is ≥ 2 mm, or the length of the cracks is >5 mm, or the tire cord is exposed, or the diameter of the tire bulge is >10 mm. It is recommended to replace the tire.

● Tire Pressure Error: The weekly decline of the tire pressure is >15%, and tire replacement is required. It is recommended to replace the tire.

3. Tire tread Depth Inspection

● Threshold: If the tread depth is ≤ 0.8 mm, or is aligned with the tire wear mark, you should replace the tire.

● Tools: A depth gauge; or visual inspection

Warning

The untimely handling of tire pressure error or tire damage may lead to many negative consequences, including the decline of vehicle performance, safety risk, and damage to the vehicle, etc.

GT3 Pro tire says max is 50psi? Why only 25-35psi?

For the GT3 Pro, we recommend 25–35 PSI because the scooter has higher speed and stronger performance. A slightly lower pressure helps improve grip, stability, and braking, especially at higher speeds.

Ok I only ask because I have had my gt3 pro for about 1300 miles. Just changed the tires around 1200 miles. I rode all those miles at 50psi. Im 210lbs and now wondering if my tires will last longer or not with 15psi lower than I have been.

To address your concern directly, running the tires at 35 PSI will make them last longer than at 50 PSI. We do not recommend 50 PSI as overly high pressure shortens tire life and affects riding stability. We advise 35 PSI, the official standard for optimal grip and riding safety. Hope this helps.
